Chapter 2

Evie The look on Thomas’s face was quite amusing, but he knew there wasn’t a choice. “I promise I will be a wonderful house guest and maybe we can find someone else that could house me if it is too, problemable for you.” The sigh that came from him was impossible not to laugh at since she knew he accepted the fate that awaited him. “I guess I don’t have much of a say in this regardless.” Thomas’s gaze fell onto Julius's and that look was enough of an answer. “I guess I will need to see if Chase can get a few things in order while we’re flying. I’ll give him a ring once we make it back to the hotel.” “Thank you very much Thomas and I will ensure to pay you back for it all as soon as I can.” Hopefully, this law enforcement gig would help her make a little cash so she could pay him back for everything. A clever glint in Thomas’s eyes, however, lasered at Julius. “No need. Julius will make sure to pay all these expenses, won’t you Sire?” Without missing a beat, Julius gave a nod of his head. “Of course. I will ensure my child here is taken care of with no problem. If you inform Chase, he will know just what to do.” His eyes again shifted to hers and there was softness in them she hadn’t seen in so very long. “I will always take care of you, Evie. I have investments that are in your name too. I knew one day I would find you again and I wanted to make sure that you would be able to have funds of your own.” His words made her beyond grateful, yet she hated that she didn’t have any way to pay him back for everything. “Don’t fret. It was with the little money you had with you. I have just used it wisely, so technically it is all your money to begin with, not mine.” Tears began to well in her eyes at what Julius had done for her. “Thank you so very much. I don’t know what I could do without you.” Thomas’s throat clearing just caused her to smile while she chuckled softly. He wasn’t one for tears. Wait till he meets his fated mate. “My apologies. Just thank you both so much.” For once, everything was looking up in her life. Screams sounded. Lightning struck around. A girl screamed as anguish filled the entire area. Erik’s sightless eyes. Julius's head fell to the ground. Thomas dropped to his knees and then his head was taken from his body. Nails at her chest ready to rip her own heart out. Anguish. Pain. Rage. Blood filled her vision, and the world became blood red as everyone’s bodies were around her. “I don’t want to live anymore.” Her words echoed and she moved to the girl that could end it all. Handing her the sword, she stared into her eyes. That young girl, such a powerful witch. Needs guidance, yet I don’t have the strength any longer. Have to save her. Save this from happening. Can’t let this happen. The images and sounds moved constantly, showing her the different paths that all choose this outcome. So many issues but one constant. Finally, they ended and this time the tears in her eyes were not of happiness and that caused both Julius and Thomas alarm. Julius's strong arms held her tight, gently rubbing her back to sooth her. When he felt her back with them, he kept her against his chest just holding her and allowing her to regain herself. “You can’t say anything to Erik or anyone else. Either of you. And you must swear to it on your blood. Terrible futures will happen. Can’t let that happen. You both are both never to say anything to him no matter what.” She knew her mind was frazzled now, and she was probably making little sense. They now could never tell him, not even if it was a benefit to her or by accident. They would cause a terrible future. The look she gazed at Thomas in the mirror was enough for him to fully understand just what awaited. “Shh, I promise on my blood dear that I will never mention to Erik or anyone about any of it.” Julius continued to hold her in his arms, soothing her anxiety. “I swear on my blood as well.” With both their oaths she allowed herself to finally try to gather herself and get through the visions. They had overwhelmed her and now she needed to follow them. To know what there was awaiting her. “Don’t’ do it Evie.” Thomas’s words stopped her before she began. “You need a clear head. Just relax for once. There is time. You look too worn out for this to be a good idea right now.” “Thomas is right. I know it must be difficult, but a clear head would be better, plus they are able to change and we will make sure to keep our part. Just rest. A clear head will be much better for you to analyze everything you need.” They were both right. She could let herself dive into her visions and it wouldn’t be the best right now. Her mind was too chaotic, and it would only cause her to get lost faster. With how her mind was becoming, it wouldn’t be best to get lost for days at a time like she had before. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and allowed herself to listen and relax. “That’s better. We will arrive at the airport within the next hour, so you have time to just rest. It's best to get out of here as fast as we can. News will travel about Elizabeth, and I would rather be in my home than here. Plus, there will be clothes on the plane for you to change into which should suit you perfectly. Then we can talk more to one another about what we shall plan.” For once, she had people she could talk to and plan things with. They would all have to be careful, but she trusted them and felt like the future was able to change for the better for all of them.
