Damien’s Tale

“Many of our warriors were killed” says Damien. “So sorry to hear that” I say. We sit there talking a little more the Cameron asks “What happened?” Damien looks and Cameron then to me with sadness in his eyes. “We had all just sat down for dinner when our warriors came through the pack link telling us to get all the elderly, women and children into the safe room a long with our Luna. We all jumped up and started ushering them all to the safe room and our other warriors went out to help. “
“We had warriors posted by the pack house doors to keep the rogues from entering. My dad being the Beta was helping the warriors along the north border when they were attacked from all directions. The alpha had been on the south border. “ says Damien. I sit there and continue listening to what he’s telling us. “Our alpha and my dad both got killed but thanks to the warriors that survived the rogues were all killed. “ Cameron looks at Damien and asks “What about your mom? Is she okay?”
It’s known in the werewolf community that if a mate dies the other mate feels the pain of the loss because a piece of their soul is gone now. Damien looks up with sadness in his eyes. “My mom is having a hard time coping with the loss of her mate, her and dad found out they were mates on their 18th birthday and decided to mate right away.” I look at him and ask “who are you staying with since you came to our pack?”
“Mom, my sister and I are staying in the pack house until the alpha can find us more permanent housing.” I look at him and ask “how old is your sister?” He smiles and tells us she’s about to turn 13. At the age of 13 werewolves shift for the first time so Cameron and I offer to be there for his sisters first shift in to her wolf. “Thank you Cameron and Scarlet that would mean a lot to me. Our dad was supposed to be with her but he can’t so she’s very sad“ Damien says. We all get up and throw out our trash and walk out of the ice cream parlor.
