Beth woke the next morning to her phone ringing. She reached out and took the phone off her nightstand, thumbed the screen and put it to her ear without even looking at it.
“Hello?”
“Good morning!” Melody chirped in her ear.
Beth frowned. Her sister had always been a morning person. As a teenager, Beth had fantasized about strangling her oddly chipper older sister. She was older now and had outgrown that. Mostly.
“What time is it?”
“Seven, did I wake you?”
Beth groaned, rolled over and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. It was too early to deal with Melody.
