As soon as we stepped into the bar, Lucy clung to my arm, shaking it with excitement.
"I can't believe we ran into Jack here! He's still as rude as ever," she exclaimed, letting out a sigh.
"But you handled it so well, Anna! You have no idea how worried I was, but you hit him right where it hurts, and he couldn't even come up with a comeback. Being treated like that is what he deserves!"
Lucy was genuinely worried about me. She knew how deeply I once loved Jack and feared that I might soften and end up back with him, allowing him to hurt me all over again, pushing me deeper into that endless hell.
But after witnessing his betrayal firsthand, I had awakened. I wouldn't let anyone manipulate me anymore.
