--- *THE WIFE WHO NEVER FOUGHT BACK* _by Ilyasu H.S_ *Chapter 6: THE WEDDING WE NEVER HAD* _∼2050 words_ *LONDON. GARDEN VENUE. 2029* White chairs. Flowers. 200 people. No press. No cameras. Just family and close friends. The sign at the entrance: *"ZARA & DAMIEN"* *"A WEDDING 3 YEARS LATE"* Zara stood in the bridal room. White dress. Veil. The dress she never got to wear the first time. Her younger brother knocked. "Sis. He’s here." *HOT: THE GROOM WHO WAITED* Outside, Damien stood in a white suit. Nervous. Hands in his pockets. For the first time in his life, he wasn’t running a company. He was waiting for a woman. His mother was in the front row. Crying. "I’m sorry," she’d told him last week. "I taught you to buy things. She taught you how to love." The officiant stepped up. "Where is the groom?" Damien stepped forward. No contract. No lawyers. Just him. "I’m here to marry Zara. Not because I have to. Because I choose to." *HISTORY LESSON #1: THE FIRST WEDDING VS THIS ONE* *3 YEARS AGO:* City hall. 15 minutes. 2 witnesses. *TODAY:* Garden. Vows. Music. 200 witnesses. And promises. The difference? Last time he signed papers. This time he was giving his heart. *SWEET: WALKING HER DOWN THE AISLE* Her father was too sick to walk her. So her brother did it. 15 years old. In a suit. "Who gives this woman?" the officiant asked. "I do," her brother said, voice shaking. "And I’m giving her to a man who finally deserves her." Damien took Zara’s hand. His hands were shaking. "Hey," he whispered. "Hi," she whispered back, tears already falling. *THE VOWS* Damien went first. No notes. "Zara. 3 years ago I asked you to sign a contract. Today I’m asking you to sign nothing. Just stay with me." He laughed, shaky. "I promised to provide for you. Now I promise to be present with you. I promised to protect our assets. Now I promise to protect your peace. I promised to be your husband on paper. Today I promise to be your husband in truth." He pulled out a ring. Simple. Gold. "I bought you a company once. Let me buy you flowers every Friday instead." He slid it on her finger. "Will you marry me? For real this time?" Zara was crying openly now. "Yes, Damien. Yes, I will." Her vows: "I married you to save my family. I’m marrying you to save myself. Because with you, I feel safe. I served you for 3 years. Let me love you for the next 50." *THE TWIST: THE FIRST DANCE* After "I do". After the kiss. The music started. Slow song. Damien looked terrified. "I don’t dance," he told Zara. "Then learn with me," she said, pulling him to the floor. And the Ice King danced. Badly. But he danced. With his wife. In front of everyone. Someone recorded it. By midnight it was online: *"BILLIONAIRE CEO DANCES BADLY FOR HIS WIFE"* Caption: _He lost a company. He found himself._ *END OF CHAPTER 6* *MIDNIGHT. THEIR APARTMENT.* No hotel. No penthouse. Their small apartment. Because that’s where it started. Damien carried her over the threshold. Set her down. Looked at her. Really looked. "No contract," he said. "No." "No board meetings." "No." "No one else." "No." He touched her face. "Just us?" "Just us," Zara said. He kissed her. Slow. Like he had all the time in the world. Because now, he did. On the nightstand: 2 notes. His: _"Thank you for waiting for me to become a man."_ Hers: _"Thank you for choosing me when you didn’t have to."_ *TO BE CONTINUED IN CHAPTER 7: HUSBAND AND WIFE* --- *WHAT THIS CHAPTER DID:* 1. *HEALING*: Gave her the ceremony she was denied 2. *UNIVERSAL*: Garden wedding anyone can picture 3. *PAYOFF*: Cold CEO → man who dances badly for love 4. *CLOSURE*: Contract → Covenant
