Chapter 10:
Julia's response revealed a heartbreaking truth. "I have no other option. I'm an orphan sir. It's just me and my daughter , she shared, tears welling in her eyes.
Alex's expression turned sympathetic, his eyes filled with compassion. "I'm so sorry, Julia," he said, his voice gentle. "I didn't mean to pry. Please, don't cry." He rummaged through his desk drawer and handed her a box of tissues.
Julia dabbed at her tears, her voice cracking. "It's just... we've been through a lot, Diamond and me. We have no one else, no family, no home. The cafe has been our refuge, but... it's not easy."
Alex listened intently, his heart going out to the young mother and her daughter. He could see the resilience in Julia's eyes, the determination to survive against all odds. And in that moment, he knew he had to help them.
As you would have heard, I just came back from abroad not quite long, and I am staying in this country for now. Based on your profile, you have a five years old daughter, I have a five years old son. I need a nanny to take care of him.and I know that you would be in the best position to help me out with that. The weight of his words hung in the air. I will be paying you, and there would be a place for you and your daughter to stay in my house. Plus feeding and you still have your job at the cafe. Are you interested?
Julia's eyes widened in surprise, her mind racing with the unexpected offer. She couldn't believe what she was hearing - a job as a nanny, a place to stay, food, and her job at the cafe still intact? It sounded too good to be true.
She looked into Alex's eyes, searching for any sign of deceit or ulterior motives, but all she saw was genuine kindness and sincerity. Her heart skipped a beat as she considered the possibilities - a stable home for Diamond, a chance to care for another child, and a fresh start.
With a sense of hope and trepidation, Julia nodded slowly. "Yes, I'm interested," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Alex's face broke into a warm smile. "Great! I'm glad you're interested. Let's discuss the details further.
