Chapter 3: Julia and Diamond were sitting at the kitchen table, Diamond Reading her book, when the sound of footsteps outside their apartment door caught their attention. Julia's heart sank as she saw the landlord, Mr. Johnson, standing in the doorway, a stern look on his face. "Julia, I'm afraid I have some bad news," he said, holding up an eviction notice. "You're behind on rent, and I need you to vacate the premises by tomorrow." Julia's mind raced as she tried to process the news. Where would they go? How would they manage? ........................................ Julia and Diamond settled into the cozy cafe, trying to make the best of their situation. But as the night wore on, the sounds of espresso machines and chatter filled the air, making it difficult for Diamond to focus on her Book. Manager Dan disapproved of their presence, his stern glances making Julia feel unwelcome. "This is a cafe, not a homeless shelter," where you and your daughter can stay, he muttered, as he passed by their table. Julia tried her best to ignore him, but her anxiety grew. How long could they stay here? And what would happen when the cafe closed for the night?
