Chapter 17
The next morning, Alex, Julia, Diamond, and Lucas arrived at Living Spring Academy. Dora greeted them with a warm smile, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
"Welcome, everyone! I'm so glad you're here. Let me show you around our lovely school."
As they toured the campus, Diamond's eyes widened with excitement, taking in the vibrant artwork, bustling classrooms, and lush playground. Lucas, however, lagged behind, his eyes fixed on the ground.
Dora led them to her office, where she began the enrollment process. Julia and Alex chatted with her, discussing everything from curriculum to extracurricular activities.
Meanwhile, Diamond and Lucas sat in the corner, Diamond eagerly asking him about his favorite subjects. Lucas shrugged, his responses brief, but Diamond's infectious enthusiasm slowly began to c***k his reserved exterior.
As the paperwork was finalized, Dora smiled, her eyes shining with warmth. "Welcome to Living Spring Academy, Diamond and Lucas! I know you'll both thrive here."
Diamond beamed, her face lighting up with excitement. Lucas, however, looked less convinced, his eyes darting around the room.
Alex placed a reassuring hand on Lucas's shoulder. "Hey, it's going to be okay, Lucas. You'll make new friends and learn some amazing things. And Diamond will be right there with you."
Dora nodded in agreement. "Actually, I think it would be great for them to be in the same class. Mrs. Thompson's class is a wonderful environment for both of them."
Julia's eyes lit up with delight. "That's perfect! Thank you, Dora."
Lucas's expression softened slightly, his eyes meeting Diamond's. Diamond grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Yay! We'll be in the same class, Lucas!" she exclaimed.
Lucas's face relaxed into a small smile, his shoulders sagging in relief.
