Chapter 4: siblings will always be siblings

805 Words
My sister is surprisingly fast at learning, I've learnt that she learns almost twice as fast if you explain everything as a feeling instead of a concept. My sister is beautiful with blonde hair, blue eyes, a very soft looking feminine face and a taller stature than the other kids. The biggest problem about my sister is she is very free willed, causing tons of problems for a large number of people in the village, but it seems if she enjoys the learning process she can excel greatly. What I spent months to perfect took her weeks to learn, she caught up to me in terms of progress so I don't have anything more to teach her. I'm not sure what her plan will be from here on but I'm certain she will keep up or better yet progress past me in terms of magical ability, on top of her learning skills our mom has been teaching her self defence with a thin sword that has a sturdy handle and what look like a dagger, when I turn 5 next year our dad wants to train me to fight with a sword, although I really want to use a short sword rather than a broadsword. For now though I will keep my focus on expanding my knowledge on the topic of magic and mana. I was stuck for a while unable to create or show more methods to magic, low and behold a few months after I'm done teaching my sister she out thinks me as she has found a way to store mana in the body. This is a pretty big discovery as the mana in the air is very dispersed and weak causing only a certain amount to be used per day, storing mana means you can use much more mana in low concentrated areas. This was something that my sister and I agreed to do together, we stored mana everyday to allow us to practice more and to someday show our parents this development. But this came at a cost, a cost that my sister and I should have stopped storing mana as it was a cost we as siblings would have never agreed to. As it hit the evening a good three days before my fifth birthday, the village was attacked by a threat we could never prepare to face let alone comprehend it revealing itself in such a measly place. The tall four legged beast with a large mane made of feather, teeth big and sharp filled with blood, breath hotter than the rays coming from the sun itself, eyes that pierce straight through your chest and into your greatest fears. In no less than 5 minutes the whole place was lit in the flames made by the beasts, we were just outside the village watching as people were killed, homes were lost and lives were ruined. We ran home to find our parents lay there... dead and in a blaze in front of what we remembered as the home we were raised in by the best people in this world. And when the monster took glimpse at us I locked eyes with it, I saw the monster, no a beast very unimaginable looking at us...not as a threat... but a danger, and remembering that monsters tend to fear danger, the cause of this blood-curdling sight was the cause of none other than me and my sister. The huge concentration of mana in our body was enough to have one of the most gruesome monsters of the south eastern part of the country come to see what caused the change. After seeing us it grew wings larger than any animal I've seen, from is sides close to the top of its torso they emerged and with a gust of wind so powerful it put out all the flames that were burning the dead corpses, houses and crops. As it flew in the distance I heard a horrendous wailing that even brought tears to someone like me...I turned around to see the heartbreaking view of my sister holding the burnt to a crisp bodies of our parents, crying tears with the forces of a river. We buried their bodies and as dawn broke the chaos of the night, my sister and I promised to not only avenge the deaths of our parents, but to ensure no monster can walk near a place full of people as long as our hearts have the rhythmic beat of our parents love inside. As the sun was beginning to come into full view, we grab what wasn't destroyed or burnt, and set off in the same direction as the beast of ancient history to avenge the people of this village and most all... OUR FAMILY. The journey of the strongest and weakest sibling magicians... begins.
