ELENA'S POV
Seraphine didn't answer immediately.
That was the answer.
"How long?" I said.
She set down the text she was holding. "I suspected from the beginning. The bloodline doesn't simply appear fully dormant in one generation without a carrier in the generation before it. Someone had to pass it to you. Someone close enough that the dormancy was nearly complete but not quite." She held my gaze. "I didn't know she was alive. I knew someone in your direct line had to exist or have existed recently. I didn't know Morgana had found her."
"But you suspected she might exist," I said. "And you didn't tell me."
"I didn't want to give you something to grieve before I had confirmation either way," she said. "A possibility is not the same as a fact."
