ELENA'S POV I didn't sleep well. Every time I came close to it something pulled me back. Not nightmares. Not pain. Just awareness, heightened and restless, like every sense I had was operating at a frequency slightly above what I was used to and couldn't find the way back down to something quiet enough to rest in.
