The person did not run.
That was the first thing.
They stood exactly where they were and looked at Mara looking at them and did not move and did not flinch and did not do any of the things a person does when they have been caught doing something they should not have been doing.
They just stood there.
Calm.
Completely calm.
The calm of someone who had known this moment was coming and had decided a long time ago how they were going to meet it.

Standing near the back of the hall in the same composed careful stillness she had worn on the platform the night of the ceremony.
Hands folded.
Face arranged.
Eyes on Mara.
