Chapter Forty nine— The Second Phase
It started in her chest.
Not painful.
Not dramatic.
Just warmth.
The same warmth as the first phase but deeper. Older. Like something that had been sitting at the bottom of a very deep place finally deciding to rise.
Mara stood at the window with both men beside her and felt it moving through her slowly.
Her wolf completely forward.
Completely certain.
"Mara," Zane said quietly.
"I feel it," she said.
"What does it feel like," Caius said.
She thought about it honestly.
"Like the truth," she said. "Moving."
It moved through the bond first.
She felt both of them feel it.
Caius's sharp intake of breath on her left.
