Chapter Fifty six—Fever
The rain had become violent.
Thunder shook the windows hard enough to rattle the old safehouse walls, but none of them paid attention anymore.
The world outside had disappeared.
There was only heat now.
Heat and breathing and the bond wrapping tighter around all three of them every second.
Mara sat between them on the couch, her back partly against Caius's chest while Zane faced her from the side, one hand tangled loosely in her hair.
Nobody seemed capable of staying still.
Every few seconds somebody touched somebody else.
A hand sliding over skin.
Fingers tightening at a waist.
A mouth brushing a throat.
The bond demanded closeness constantly now.
And Mara loved it.
She loved the way Caius kept pulling her back against him unconsciously, like his body
