The night at Hollow Crown had helped for a moment, but the drive back to the Old Quarter had dragged every thought I had been avoiding straight back to the surface. The text I had sent Sera still echoed in the back of my mind. I wasn’t sure if I regretted it or craved her response more than I should have. I locked the front door behind me and headed upstairs, stripping off my shirt as I went. The house felt impossibly quiet.
