“So this is the man you’ve chosen, Rylee,” he said, deliberately using her old name, savoring it like a weapon. “Engaged to someone less than me. What a pity. You could have had better. Too bad you let it slip away.”
Kya’s breath caught, her jaw tightening. She wanted to speak, to cut him down, but Julian’s hand at her back was steady, grounding her. His silence was deliberate, his composure unshaken.
