Maya had just stepped out of the shower when her phone rang. Steam still clung to the mirror, and she was wrapped in a towel while flipping through her closet for something casual to wear for lunch with Sebastian. She answered without checking the caller ID. “Hello?” A pause. Then a smooth, controlled voice. “Ms. Hastings.” Maya froze. “Mr. D?” “Yes. I’d like to meet.” She blinked. “Meet? In person?” “Yes. Out of town. I’ll send a car.” Maya hesitated. “Why out of town?” “It’s quieter. More private. And I prefer discretion.” She bit her lip, curiosity sparking.
