Chapter Six

3565 Words
I looked out the window of the car on the way to his mother’s house. The last two weeks have felt like we have been walking on glass. He has been distant by leaving for work early and coming home late. He has even stayed in his office all night long since we talk about our past. The last time we had s*x was that night after we talked. The only closeness I have felt from Thane is the nights I woke up in terror from my nightmares.       I glared over to him as he looked up from his phone at me, “Bella, you feeling okay? You look a little pale.” My eyes looked him up and down as I could drink him in his suit, “Just a little nervous. I will be fine when we get there.” Which wasn’t a complete lie, but it was more about what is growing inside of me right now. I took a test yesterday after I realized that I missed my period.       He reached over and placed his hand into mine, “I will be right there with you.” I looked out the window, “Beside your mom, Mickey and Jessie; who else will be joining us?” He looked down at his phone as he typed away, “My stepfather and brothers.” I nodded as I sighed, “So your father will not be there.” He chuckled in a dark manor, “We can hope that he doesn’t show up.”       He sighed as he placed his phone back in his pocket and turned to me, “I feel like we need to clear the air when we get there.” I shrugged my shoulders, “Why?” I looked out the window trying not to push the subject hoping that it will not allow him to pull away any more than he has, “Princess, You are very important to me and I told you that I was falling for you.”       He moved closer to me and placed his hand on my knee. I felt an electrifying shock that ran up my spine that gave me goosebumps, “Then I have been pulling away from you. I never want you to feel that I don’t want you.” I looked at him as my heart sank down into my stomach as I whispered, “Then why push away?” He dipped his eyes down to investigate mine,       “Because I'm just as scared about this, us, that you are.”       I turned my head as his hands cupped my face as he pulled my head to face him, “Bella, I am scared. I am afraid I am going to f**k this up and break your heart. I never felt I deserve you, never mind loving you.” He ran his thumb across my dry lips, “You are the most beautiful woman I met. You are the smartest woman that I have met, you are the strongest and bravest woman I know, and I don’t deserve you.” My tongue darted out of my mouth to lick my lips when it ran across his thumb as he groaned.       “I love that the only thing you have to do is turn me on and you're not even trying.”        I chuckled as he wiggled his eyebrows at me, “Thane, I feel that I don’t deserve you but don’t know how to stop falling for you.” He shook his head,        “You deserve so much more than you think.”       He pulled my head down and placed his lips against my forehead, “I will always want you, Princess. I just don’t know how to love you the way you should be loved.” My hand went against my brain and clenched on his jacket, “Just like you are right now.”       He placed his forehead against mine as he looked into my eyes, “Can we start over? Can we try to love each other and figure how to do that?” I looked into his eyes as I could see the love that he was hiding until now,       “What do you mean?”       He twisted his forehead side to side with a smirk on his face, “We can start with telling my family that you are my girlfriend.”       I smiled at him, “That is a good start.”       He smirked, “I am still your master in the bedroom.” I nodded as I pressed my lips against his, “I wouldn’t want that to stop if we are in a relationship or not.” He nodded to me, “I am sorry that I've been neglecting you for the past two weeks.” He looked up out the window, “I had to make sure that my mind was clear to make the decision if I wanted to really try to be fixed or not.” I tilted my head at him, “You want to try?” He sat back in his seat as we pulled up to the massive mansion that we met at,       “Like you said, how would I really know if I can be fixed if I don’t try. And I want to try with you.”       He held up his finger then pointed to me, “You have to try to be fixed too.”       I nodded at him as Leo opened the door to let us out. Thane walked me up to the door as it opened, “Well, Well, look what the cat dragged in.” A tall, muscular, younger man stood in the doorway as Thane smirked, “Hey asshole how have you been?” Thane gave him a hug with a pat on the man’s back, “You know. Traveling for business.” Thane nodded as he placed his hand back on the small of my back, “Isabella this is my stepbrother Jared.” Jared held out his hand as I took it to shake, “It is great to finally meet the wonderful Isabella that stole this asshole’s heart.” I blushed as I looked up at Thane as he shrugged his shoulders.       “I have kind of bragged about you a little.”       I blushed as we entered the house as Jared yelled, “Oh, MOM! Your baby is home.”       Woman walked out of a room holding her arms out to Thane, “Oh, Thane so glad you made it.” She wrapped her arms around him, “Mom.” She smiled as she pulled back and walked up to me, “You must be Isabella.” I nodded as she took me into her embrace, “I am so glad to finally meet you.” She pulled away from me but not telling me to go, “Thane your description of her doesn’t do her justice.” I blushed as I heard Mickey’s voice, “About time you two go here.”       He stood in the doorway as he gave a smirk to me and Thane. I smiled at him as I gave him a hug, “Good to see you Mickey.” He nodded as he whispered into my ear, “You and Thane made up?” I nodded as I smirked at him as his face lit up as he leaned into my ear, “Oh you two did more than make up.” I playfully smacked his arm as Jessie came around the corner with a smile on her face.       I walked back over to Thane when he properly introduced me to his mom, “Isabella, this is Grace. My mom.”  She smiled, “You can call me mom.” I nodded as I looked up at Thane when he tilted his head. She smiled at us in silence for a minute when a man’s voice came over the foyer, “Well, are we not going to get everyone at the table or what?”       Grace smiled, “Of course dear, Isabella, this big grump is my husband, Dean.” I nodded at him as I held out my hand to him, “Nice to meet you.” He smirked as he gripped my hand in a shake, “The pleasure is all mine.” He waved us all into the dining area.       Thane looked around, “Where is Ben and Melissa?” Dean looked up at him as he answered, “They should be here any minute now.” He nodded as he pulled out my chair for me as I sat down. I looked at the long table as my stomach started to turn. Jessie noticed my discomfort, “Isabella, are you feeling okay?” I nodded my head as I felt my stomach crawling up my throat as food was placed on the table.       The smell was amazing, but it was all turning my stomach. I got up for the table as I looked at Thane,       “Bathroom?”       Thane raised his eyebrow as he was puzzled of my urgency, “Down the hall. I will show you.” He got up as I pulled him quickly. He opened the door as I ran up to the toilet. I could see the confusion in my eyes as I kneeled and released my stomach, “Princess, are you okay?” I nodded, “I will be fine.”       He went to the sink as I lifted my eyebrow as he opened a draw. He pulled out a toothbrush and toothpaste then placed it on the counter. “Do you want me to stay or go back to the table.” I leaned back over the toilet. I tried to catch my breath, “Go ahead, I think I am almost done.” He nodded as he touched my forehead with the back of his hand,       “If you get sick again, I am taking you home.”       I nodded at him when he left the bathroom.       Once I was done releasing my stomach, I was brushing my teeth when I heard Thane near the door, “What the f**k are you doing here?” I slowly opened the door as I saw him with another man that looked like him and a woman that looked like she could be my sister.       “I am here to have Thanksgiving dinner with my family.” Thane turned his face away for the man, “Who is this? Your new wife?” The man snorted, “You don’t remember, Jamie’s daughter Kelly.” I widened the door as Thane straightened out, “Princess you okay?” I nodded as the man and woman turned towards me, “I feel better thank you.” He walked over to me as he pulled me down the hall as the man cleared his throat,       “You are not going to introduce your new eye candy.”       Thane turned around with a snarl, “You do not talk about my girlfriend like that.”       I placed my hand on Thane’s arm as he eased from my touch as the man tilted his head, “Girlfriend?”  Thane clenched his fist, “That right, Mine.” The man roared into laughter as I c****d my head, “Must be serious son if you are bringing her home.”       “You stay away from her; do you hear me.”       I jumped when I heard a clearing of a throat behind me when a woman that looked like an older version of Kelly standing behind us, “Can we all just get along for Thanksgiving?” I narrowed my eyes at her as her eyes widened. She looked like she knew I knew what she did to Thane. She looked down at the ground when Thane threw his hand up in the air, “I can do that just as long as he can keep his mouth shut.” His father walked by him as he patted his shoulder, “We will talk soon. I need to over something with you.”       Thane nodded as he took a deep breath and pulled me into him. The woman walked over as she watched Kelly walk with Thane’s father, “Thane, I want to apologize for not giving heads up that we will be here.” He narrowed his eyes at her, “Jamie. I wouldn’t have answered your call anyways.” She sighed, “I know but I could have at least text you. I know that you and your father don’t get along.” She forced a smile at me,       “I am guessing this is Isabella that your stepbrothers are talking about.”       Thane nodded his head as he pulled me into him tighter, “This is.”       She nodded, “I am guessing on how close you are with her that you told her?” He nodded, “I did.” She sighed as she placed a hand on Thane’s arm and a hand on mine, “I made my mistakes in the past. That doesn’t make up for what I did and place you Thane through.” She shook her head as she lifted her head to the ceiling, “I was drunk and I'm sober now. Getting sober helped me realize what I did to people.”       Thane shook his head at her in disbelief, “If that is the case then you should really leave my father. He is an abusive motherfucker and is not willing to change that.” She nodded, “Between the three of us. I am working on getting a divorce. My lawyer is working on the paperwork to file for Monday.” Thane nodded, “I hope it works out for you.”       She forced a small smiled, “Thane, I am serious. What I did to you as a teen was wrong.” She narrowed her eyes out of the hallway, “What your father made you do was wrong?” I looked up at her, “Your daughter looks awfully close to his father.” She frowned and nodded as I just hit it right on the nail, “That is what I am afraid of. I think your father is sleeping with Kelly.”       Thane’s eyes widened, “You need to get her away from him before it is too late.” Thane’s hand slid up my back as she nodded in agreement, “I am trying to get her out as soon as I can.”       I stood holding my stomach as Jamie’s eyes studied me, “Have you taken a test, yet?” Thane c****d his head as if questioning what she was asking. I looked up at Thane then gave her a small smile when she smirked as she nodded, “I will let the two of you talk then.”       She walked away as Thane turned me towards him, “Bella, what is she talking about? What test?” I c****d my head on how I was going to tell him as I rubbed the small of my stomach. His eyes got wide, “No?” I nodded my head as I searched his eyes as he placed his hands on my hips, “When did you find out?” I looked down at the floor, “I took the test yesterday.”       He cupped my face as he lifted to his, “Princess, are you telling me that I am going to be a father?” I looked into his eyes as he searched mine’s when he took a deep breath, “I need a moment.” He let go as he walked away from me to the front door. I turned as a tear ran down my face when Grace came looking from me,       “Isabella honey, Is everything okay?” I shook my head as I started to cry as she wrapped her arms around me, “I am guessing he didn’t take the news, well did he?” I pulled back and questioned her, “How did you know?” She smiled, “You are glowing my dear.” She ran her hands down my arms, “He will come around, He dealt with a lot in his life with his father so he may be questioning if he can be a good father. Not the fact that you are pregnant.” She tilted her head, “You and Thane will make good parents. He just got to believe in himself which he has a hard time doing.”       I understood what she was saying. I was questioning if I am going to be a good mother because of what my mother did to me. I sighed, “I know the feeling.” She tilted her head, “I am sorry, Isabella. You don’t have a say anymore. Just know that I never seen Thane like this with another woman in his adult life.” I nodded as she walked me back to the dining room.       I sat down as Thane’s father c****d his head at me, “So where did Thane run off too?” Jamie narrowed her eyes at him, “Don’t give her a hard time, Jeremy.” He nodded his head, “Right. I promised to be civil.” Grace looked at him, “That is right.” She sat down and sighed, “We will give Thane a couple minutes before eating.” Mickey leaned to me, “What is going on?”       I shook my head as Thane entered the dining room with his eyes red as he was crying with another man that I haven’t met yet as Grace squeaked, “Ben! Where is Melissa?” He rolled his eyes, “We got into a fight yesterday, so she went to her parent’s house.”       Thane sat next to me as he forced a smile, “Sorry about that. Ben and I just had a heart to heart.” Grace nodded her head, “Honey, you want to do the honors of carving the turkey?” Her husband smiled and got up to take the knife.       There was some small talk while eating when Thane looked over at me when he softly asked me, “How are you feeling?” I looked up at him holding back the tears and my voice came out shaky, “I am okay now.” He leaned towards me as he whispered, “Don’t cry, please. I can’t take it if you do.” Mickey looked puzzled about what was going on when leaned forward as Jessie elbowed Mickey into the ribs. I could hear him snap back at her, “What the hell was that for?” I glazed over to Thane as he chuckled that made me chuckled. He placed his hand on my knee as he gave me a squeeze. I wasn’t sure if this was his way to assure me that he was okay or if he was still trying to figure this all out.”       Once we were done with dinner, the family sat in the living room as they talked about their past. “s**t, Thane you remember that lake house.” Ben looked up at him as Thane took a sip of his beer. He nodded, “I live there right now.”       Thane sat back and placed his arm around my shoulder as I laid my head into the cress of his silk shirt. Ben looked at us as he smiled, “Have you shown her our secret spot?” He shook his head lightly, “I was planning on taking her up there this weekend.”       I looked up at him as his mother laughed, “These boys would give me a heart attack when I could find them.” All three boys rolled their eyes as Ben sighed, “We were not that bad.” She snorted, “If you say so Ben.”       Jeremy chuckled, “Ben and Jared were not that bad but Thane here.” Both Jamie and Grace narrowed their eyes at Jeremy as his hand was on the back of Kelly’s back as she let out a little giggle, “The trouble Thane would get into.” Thane sat forward as he stared down Jeremy, “What are you doing here? You never come to these things.” He shrugged his shoulders, “We have business to take care of.” Thane snorted as he took his arm off me, “What business is that?” Jeremy looked at Kelly and smiled as she giggled, “We will discuss that later.”       Thane pointed to him out of frustration as I wanted to sink into the couch, “No. We talked about it right here and right now.” Jeremy shrugged his shoulders, “Well if you want to then we will.” He leaned forward in his chair to look at Thane as Grace raised her eyebrow, “You have an obligation to fill.” Thane let out a laugh, “And what the hell is that?” Jeremy looked at Kelly, “You were promised to Kelly.”        Grace got up from her chair, “You can leave, now. That will never happen.” Jamie nodded in agreement, “Thane looks like he is happy and in love with Isabella. And I never agree to this nor should have Kelly.” Jeremy shook his head, “If he doesn’t then he knows what will happen.” I looked up as Thane’s eyes got wide, “What could you possibly have that would make me agree to this?”       Jeremy tilted his head, “You don’t remember do you?” Thane shook his head, “What are you talking about?” Jeremy smirked, “You remember Abby.” Jamie’s eyes snapped at Jeremy as if she knew what he was talking about. Thane shook his head as Jeremy smirked, “How you killed her.” The room fell silent when Thane raised up from the couch, “She was alive when I left her.” I instantly felt sick to my stomach again as I lifted up and ran to the bathroom when I heard Thane, “Bella. I swear to you.”       I slammed the bathroom door as I released my stomach. I started to shake and feel faint when there was a knock and Jamie’s voice came over the door, “Isabella. I promise you that Thane had nothing to do with Abby’s death.” She knocked lightly, “Can I please come in so I can explain?” I picked up my head weakly, “Yes.” She opened the door as she whispered, “I have proof that it wasn’t Thane that killed her. My lawyers have the proof.” I can’t say anything yet because I am trying to get Kelly into a safe place before it comes out.” She sighed, “There is video evidence. I found it a month ago. His father held this over his head long enough.”       I looked up at her, “I believe you and I believe Thane. It is just his…” I tried to stand up when I went down as Jamie yelled, “Thane get in here now!”
