Chapter Fourteen

Hunter
I felt more alive than ever before; I had done it. Serina was mine; I had found Marcus in his plot. Even now, as I sat in his chair at the end of his grand hall, his pack was around me, and I felt a sense of peace. All was right with the world. That was until I saw my beautiful bride-to-be march into the room, barefooted and wearing that dress that I had wanted to see on her from the first moment I met her. She looked like a queen, her hair wild floating out behind her, confident, solid strides. I could feel the raging coming through the blood bond, a neat little trick. I had sensed the moment she had woken up. I'm in for hell. And I couldn't wait. "Hello, princess" I smiled at her, stalling her in her tracks. "Don't call me that, Hunter; what the hell are you thinking? Running MY pack? Sentencing my father? Imprisoning my fiancé!” "Ex-fiancé" I wasn't helping matters, but I loved seeing her wound up. She was mine now; she couldn't fight it, and even if she tried, our blood was traded. Almost like she could hear my thoughts. She looked at her wrist where the marks of my fangs had marked her mine. Not all of my bites would mark her; the next time I bit would be for both our pleasure. She had felt that bond go down as she dropped her wrist and snapped her eyes at me. "What did you do?" She marched up to me, her eyes shooting deathly daggers at me. "What part, princess? Save you from a miserable existence in your marriage? Sudden death as part of your father's pack that betrayed the crown? Or made you mine and mine alone?" She was going to swing for me; I could tell how she stood before it even came through the bond. She swung. It would have been an impressive blow If I had not ducked and dragged her onto the throne, perched on my lap. Where she belonged. If only she would agree to that. Immediately, she started wriggling, trying to free herself; it was doing dangerous things to my groin that she was sitting so perfectly upon. A growl of approval rising from my chest had her sit as still as a statue on me; I couldn't help the laughter that followed. "Hunter, enough of this; you have had your fun. Release me now so we can talk about the future of my pack." Funnily, her pack chose to leave the room the second she swung for me, turning and realizing that for herself. I let her go, much to my body's protest, but she would want to stand for the next part she would hear. She stood a safe distance away. Good. I'd be much less likely to lose a part of my body.
"Serina, you're right. We do need to talk. There was a reason I came to this gathering other than to see what he was planning." She crossed her arms, making her breasts do beautiful things in that dress. "I know hunter." That took me back. She could feel it, too? This whole time? "You came to pick up where you left off the last time I saw you, to continue your torture of me." Relief swamped me. She didn't have a clue. She was adorable. "Oh, princess." "Stop calling me that." I loved that fire in her, but I couldn't wait to burst her bubble. I stood circling her. Naturally, she backed off. "Serina, I came here to claim you. When I turned eighteen that summer, you turned sixteen, I found something, and I've been waiting all these years to get it back." I could see the mistrust in her eyes; she wouldn't take them off me now. I took a step towards her, her backing up. Until she fell onto the throne, I had left for her. I wanted her sitting for this next part. "What are you talking about, Hunter" She gripped onto the throne like a lifeline. Nothing could stop her from this fall, though "You are my mate, Serina; don't tell me you can't feel the pull." Her face was set in stone, only her eyes giving away the internal war. Her wolf had accepted me; mine knew that. But all this time, she had blocked it out; she had no choice now; she had to admit it to herself, She would be mine and mine alone, and how I would enjoy my she-wolf.
I waited for the ball to drop, for her to give in and surrender to me, to us. But what came next came as a shock.
Her eyes met mine, and she laughed, quiet at first, then more dramatic, tears running down her face, hysterical laughter; my wolf was c*****g his head at her odd behavior. "You're mad." She stood now, clutching her stomach, sober from her fits. She started to walk away, her long dress floating behind her. "You can't run from me, Serina." The power in my voice had her stopping in her tracks. The only sounds in the grand hall were her heartbeat racing aside mine. I walked towards her, but she took a step back with every step I took. I could feel her panic and rising fear, watching her try to find a way out and escape. I kept advancing. I had been waiting for her for years, biding my time. But now she was mine, and I would never let her go. She could feel that through the bond, even now, her eyes snapping up to meet mine as her back hit the ballroom wall. She put her hands out to stop me from getting too close, but her gaze never left mine. "Stop, please." Her voice had a shake in it; I stopped as my chest hit her hands, the familiar burning starting where our bodies touched. I said nothing, giving her time to adjust to this. "You have to have made a mistake; there is no way, Hunter, we can't stand each other; what is between us." She gestured to where our skin met "It's nothing." There was that nervous laugh again, hysterics threatening to take over. I pushed against her arms, holding me at bay, my hand coming and holding her neck again, hers dropping to her side immediately; I stepped into her, her body flush against the wall, and my body flushed against her, leaning down to her while raising her chin up so she had no choice to look at me. Her cheeks flushed a beautiful pink, and her breath came in quicker. "You are mine. I have waited years for you. Did you ever wonder why we were so connected as children? My wolf knew yours, yours mine. And finally, I can have you." Before I knew it, I was kissing her again, my lips parting hers and demanding that reaction only she could give me. Her self-control splintered and she clung to me. Her hands tangling in my hair. I lifted her, wrapping her legs around my waist and holding her against the wall with my hips. I could feel my d**k throbbing at the position, her scent driving me wild, and her little moans of approval as I tickled the edge of her n*****s through the dress. Breathing had us breaking apart. Gods, she was addictive, Her face flushed, and her lips swollen from our heated kisses. I brought her chin to mine again, loving how her body was still wrapped around mine. "Tell me, my beautiful mate, are you convincing yourself with this nonsense? Stop fighting this, stop fighting me; this pull is too strong; you know you'll give in; you must. You are a princess now and will be my queen; we will rule side by side together. After we have appointed the next alpha, you will return to the crescent castle, and I will make you mine." I chucked when her eyes flashed violet, her wolf stirring within her. My own reflection in mine, I could feel my fangs descending, wanting to bite, to mark her. To take her. "You are mine." She physically shuddered, and I could smell her arousal. She was ready for me, even if she didn't like that. Her eyes met mine again, and she froze, seeing her gaze falling to my fangs, fear creeping in.
A cough behind us had her scrambling out of my hold. I let her go as she fixed her dress and bolted out of the ballroom.
