Chapter 23 - Guests

"What was that about" Liv asked finally breaking the silence of our walk

"They are my step mum and sister. I am the Betas Biological daughter but I am not studying to be a Beta so I am being considered unranked I guess. They don't like me much because I bring attention to the whole blended family thing... My brother looks more like him so the four of them look like a happy family and I'm their weird wolfless sibling which kinda leaves a bit of a mark on the family." i looked at her and she looked shocked Mark still just looked pissed.

"I knew everyone hated the soon the be Luna but I didn't realise the f****d up situation" her face softened "They're real bitches"

I nodded laughing "You don't know the half of it"

"I heard the Alpha tried to pick someone else but nothing happened so I assume just a rumor. I would say seems like something you'd know but probably not the case considering" I just shrugged and dropped my eyes not able to hide my heart ache after today's events adding on to it.

I looked over at mark and he raised an eyebrow looking confused at me. I wasn't sure if he was placing the puzzle together but he had at least softened his look.

after that we talked about normal things. Liv was unmated but holding out. We talked about school and I told her about the flat mates so she wasn't taken by surprise. I let her know about Lilly even though she would be back at the pack working by now and she seemed excited to meet them.

When we got to the back of the house she looked it over in awe. The timber was all from our mills even the ShouSugi, which was established just for this house, was done by her family. She was so excited about the wood she almost forgot about everything else. Mark just looked like he was having his own internal conversation that we were not privvy to.

As we entered the kitchen I yelled out. "WE HAVE A GUEST" as I smiled at Liv and Mark. I had to let them know as I wasn't ready for her to know all of my secrets.

Philip came in first and I introduced them both "I'll start on dinner" he said shooing us out of his space of mastery.

Amelia and James were in the lounge and before I could say anything Amelia spoke

"It's so good to see you again. It's been a while since I've been with the family to check over business but you look so good." she said smiling at Liv and motioning to the couch for her to sit. "Oh and it's nice to meet your Mark. Thank you for taking Felix today saved my ass meant I could get some study done" she laughed

"I'm James" he said unsure of how to get a word in after the greeting Amelia gave. f****d up the flow a bit but worked out.

"Alpha" Liv beared her neck and the bowed to show respect Mark just looked a bit confused still in his own world but did the same.

"Please don't. It's just Amelia. I am no Alpha. At least not in this house" she laughed winking at me to which I rolled my eyes

"okay, Amelia. And it is great to meet you also James" she said smiling

"Yeah good to meet you guys..." Mark said softly

"They are mates" I said. Not that there was any question around that they were holding onto each other like life support but I wanted to add in my two cents.

"You don't say" Liv said as well all giggled and sat down to talk.

After all of the normal topics about school and family Liv bought up something I was trying to avoid

"That soon to be Luna is a real b***h" before today I hadn't read about it or heard about it because my friends were keeping it away from me to save my feelings. The look of worry in Amelia and Jamess eyes made this clear as day. "She couldn't even hold her self properly she was a b***h to Felix and my father. I was fuming. But Felix took it like a champ. I can't believe they are sisters and they chose Her out of the two of them"

I looked at her nervously. Had she just not noticed? "Liv I don't have a wolf" I said quietly

"I know" she looked at me with a c****d brow "It's not about that you are so much more a Luna than she is. Which isn't a tall bar to jump but still."

"Thank you" i nodded to her and she nodded back

"Yeah she is a real b***h. But what actually happened I feel like I'm missing something. Is Dee like studying forestry??" Amelia asked

Liv and I laughed thinking about her working would be a sight. "No no I think she was checking out her business for when she become Luna. You know to become familiar. And while she was there I asked a question which was apparently stupid. She was just generally rude"

"That is the understatement of the century she was hella rude. To you mostly but also mad that my father hadn't greeted them when they hadn't even said they were coming. Plus your question was a good question I could see on dads face he was impressed. I could strangle those two shewolves" Liv said with a lot of Gusto I believed her

"Was it Dee and Katherine??" James asked

"Yes they both seem to be getting very comfortable considering there are still years before any of this happens and it is pending Axel finding his fated mate. I am not sure what gives them so much hope about it but goddess it boils my blood. I hope he finds his fated mate and boots those bitches out" I choked on my breath as Liv said all of this. she seemed very passionate but everyone in this house knows to well what has happened and why they are so confident.

"If only" Amelia said looking at me sadly and I nodded.

I turned to Mark who was unbelievably quiet and he just looked sadly at me and raised his brow.

After that conversations went back to normal and I just listened. Philip bought out the food and joined in telling his story's of being 13 for 7 years and how he turned just in time to find his mate. Their story really was cute when you thought about it. I was so glad it worked out.

"Philip this is so tasty! are you like micro dosing our food or something" I asked and he just laughed

"Some of us are just good in the kitchen. I've never seen anyone rely so wholely on frozen meals as you though so it could just be that you are finally eating some real f*****g food princess"

this was perfect. Dee and Kate were devil spawn and ruined my family. But my chosen family they were perfect. Even if Mark was just silently here I liked his company...

"Okay big talk for someone who couldn't even go to a bar 2 weeks ago little man" I said as we all laughed again.

"Well my dad's here" Liv said standing up

"I should probably go too" mark said following her.

I gave Liv a hug following them out and she jumped into her dad's car and waved. Once it was just me and Mark I grabbed his arm just as he was about to get to his car.

"Did I do something wrong?" i whispered. He looked down at my hand and sighed

"No. What happened though. I just don't really understand any of it? so you ran from your fated mate before he could reject you. It kinda sounds like it's your Alpha. But then what he's mating your sister who hates you and isn't fit to be a waitress much less a Luna? i may be packless and I didn't grow up around Wolves much honestly but I don't understand this. Further more I can't believe you just let them treat you like that if they are family. And it's so weird that you're besties with his sister??? I'm just confused." he said it all in one breath and the shook my hand off his wrist "I like you Felix you seem nice and all but your life is so complicated..."

and with that he left.
