He's Here

Videtis vos sentire…I typed in the words and waited for the results. When they finally appeared I furrowed my eyebrows and my mouth was slightly open almost as if I was going to gag. I shakily reiterated the translation in my crackly monotonous voice, “You see...you feel." I was definitely not someone who was even the slightest bit superstitious, but after today I didn't know what to believe. My body ran cold and my face felt numb, I stood there for several seconds trying to regulate my breathing. Suddenly I heard a glass drop on the floor which shook my heart and almost made me scream. I quickly whipped my head around and looked on the ground only to find my picture frame on the floor, with the glass screen shattered into pieces. I walked over to the broken pieces of glass stooped down and flipped the picture up and realized that it was one of  myself in front of  a cotton candy stand in Florida. My mouth had slightly opened and I picked up the picture backing away from the shattered glass. Okay, this must be a coincidence, anything can drop suddenly off a shelf right? This happens a lot so no nee- My thoughts were immediately interrupted when the sound of another glass dropped on the floor followed by another glass and another glass. I quickly stepped away and shifted my head from side to side looking at the four shattered picture frames on my living room floor. I walked over to each picture and picked them up, and each picture I retrieved each time my stomach churned and my head began to spin. I looked at every one of the pictures and they were ones of me through every stage in my life, childhood, teenager, pre adult and adult. My mouth quivered as I could not find the words to say, my eyes fluttered uncontrollably and cold sweat began to drip from my face and trail from my neck. I rushed into the bathroom and yanked my cupboard door open for more aspirin. Without even counting I swallowed what seemed like half a handful of them which felt like giant grains sliding down my throat. I turned on the bathroom sink and shoved my head under the nozzle to get a mouthful of water to wash down the pills. When the pills had finally cleared my throat I turned off the pipe and began to cough. I held onto the side for support and tried to stand up right. My clothes were soaked with water and some even leaked into my black high heel shoes. My head had been a bit dizzy but now I was somewhat stabilized and sluggishly pulled my feet towards the stairs to go into my room.  Each step I took my feet began to slip out of my shoes, and each step I took they gradually came off. I opened my room door and walked into the bathroom beside my closet. I looked in the mirror at an exceedingly haggard, stressed and untidy woman. My short light brown hair was in a mess pointing in all directions possible, my skin had become pallid and worn, my eyes had developed dark circles and even my mouth was dry and chipped, despite basically shoving the faucet water in my mouth. I stared into the bathroom sink next to my bedroom before I'd turned on the water and splashed my face with it to liven up. I removed my black jacket and threw it into my hamper along with my blue buttoned shirt and black dress pants. When my feet touched the cold tiled floor in my shower, I winced once and turned on the hot water which steamed through my entire bathroom and made it feel like a sauna. When I'd finished showering I grabbed my towel and walked into my room. My feet touched the brown carpeted floor of my bedroom and the eyes I felt watching me were stronger. Immediately it sent shivers up my spine and I could hear my own heart beating loudly along with my deep breathing. My eyes trailed every inch of my room but there was no sign of anything or anyone. I shook my head then dried and dressed as quickly as I could, finding only my black sweat pants and navy blue muscle shirt on my dresser. How the hell am I supposed to fall asleep at a time like this? I questioned myself before pacing to the bathroom again to brush my teeth. My hands felt shaky and everything I picked up shook slightly. I pulled open the cabin over my sink and searched for my toothbrush, when I found it I grasped it with shaky hands and proceeded to close the cabin door. Just calm down, everything will be- My thoughts were interrupted and the diameter of my widened eyes was record breaking. "AHHH!" When I shut the cabinet door and looked into the mirror I saw the same unknown figure behind me, smiling with folded arms. My head whipped around but before I could focus my vision something had pushed my back and slammed my body on top of the sink and my head in the mirror, with glass shattered everywhere. I coughed strenuously due to the pressure being put on my chest and the impact of my body slam. My eyes were barely open but I saw the face, the most beautiful face I'd ever seen was right before me giving me the most sinister of smiles and looking at me with the most empty glare I'd ever seen.
