The boys were in the bedroom. The door was shut tight. Heavy footsteps echoed closer down the narrow apartment hallway. They stopped right outside my door. Three knocks. Slow. Deliberate. Elliot stepped in front of the door and swung it open. Two men stood in the hall. Black leather jackets. Massive, hulking frames.
