Valentina felt breathless after the long lasting kiss. She wanted to resist him but her body reacted either way to his touch. Xavier caressed her swollen lips and his chest puffed up with pride as he saw her red face.
He settled down on his chair and pulled her down on his lap. He liked the way Valentina obeyed him and didn't say anything. But only if he knew that her inner turmoil was making it difficult for her to react to anything. The questions that boarded her mind, the confusions swirling in her brain, everything made Valentina oblivious to the situation. Her heart was filled with fear when she thought that Xavier would never let her go. What if she one day asks him to leave her? What will he do?
"Which Uni do you want to apply for?"
Valentina came out of her trance hearing him. She looked at him at first and then the file laying down on the table.
"I don't know. I was supposed to apply to another university. But I don't know any uni here."
Valentina muttered and got a humming sound as a response. She saw Xavier going through her file and then he opened one of his drawers to draw out another file.
"Then let me take care of it. I'll need some more of your information. Tell your mom to send it."
Valentina nodded. Xavier immersed himself in her file that gave Valentina liberty to study his face. His stoic, handsome face was to die for. No one could deny the charm and the aura he radiated. His eyes are always blank even though he tries to cover them up with fake emotions. The things grandpa Night told to Valentina, she seems to recall them all. Who could say a strong guy like him went through all those traumatic events? With determination, Valentina made a promise to herself.
She will forget her chubby boy. Not for forever but for the time being. She will give all her love, care and affection to Xavier to cure him. She will make sure he is back to his old self. She will make sure he isn't scared of darkness. She will make sure to turn those fake emotions in her eyes into real ones. If she needs to forget her chubby boy, she will do so. Not because she loves Xavier. She still loves her chubby boy. But she has a pious relationship with Xavier. She has taken vows in front of so many people and the priest. How could she go back on her vows and promises? She will carry out her duties as a wife. And the first step will start with her being his friend. Maybe best friend.
Valentina flinched when Xavier snapped his fingers at him.
"What happened?"
He asked in a hoarse voice. Valentina fumbled with her words to find an excuse.
"Umm, I don't have any phone with me. Don't know where I lost it."
Valentina said with a pout that formed on her lips without her knowing.
"Let's go!!"
Xavier stood up with her in his arms. Valentina gasped as her legs dangled in the air. She hit his shoulder and rebuked him,
"Why do you always stand up without telling me? What if I had fallen?"
"I'll never let you fall. Not on the ground and not for anyone!!"
Valentina gulped down a mouthful of saliva as she took into his words. It was for the best if she didn't tell him about her chubby boy. For now she should just focus on him and her duties as his wife. More than that, as his temporary doctor to cure him. Once she can control his anger, she will tell him about her chubby boy. And she is hopeful that he will understand her.

"Good morning ma'am!"
Lara smiled at one of her interns who greeted her just before she could enter her cabin. Lara responded back to her greeting and went inside her cabin.
She sat on her chair and sighed in relief. Finally she is back to her job. Lara Night, the younger sister of Xavier Night, 22 years old and a successful lawyer. She didn't lose any case that she had taken into her hands.
Sipping on her usual tea, Lara started working on her files, going through one after another. She had a successful firm running under her. Even though it wasn't big, her firm was known by every possible person. She worked hard to bring it to such a position.
"Ma'am, someone wants to meet with you."
Lara raised her head from the piles of files and frowned. She didn't have any meetings today. Then who is it? Ignoring her confusion, she told her PA to let them in.
Soon enough, the glass door of her cabin opened revealing a shiny pair of black shoes. Lara stood up and felt a blow on her face as she looked at the man.
"He is handsome!!"
Lara shook her head for thinking such obnoxious things. She took into his appearance discreetly. He wore a black suit with a black shining shoes, his face was blank with eyes void of any trace of human emotions. He looked like a robot.
"Hello, Miss Lara Night!!"
Lara shivered at the deepness of his voice. It was hoarse and husky. It seemed like he hardly talked. Lara prep talked to herself and turned to her professional mode.
" Hello, Mr.."
Lara left the sentence hanging. The man picked up her hanging sentence and answered in his deep voice,
"Andrew, Andrew Jones."
Lara nodded her head in acknowledgment. She had heard the name before. She didn't dread much as she thought he might be one of her brother's clients that she heard the name of.
"Please take a seat!!"
Lara gestured to one of the seats in front of her and then sat on her own seat. If it was some other person, Lara would have told them to come with an appointment in case they didn't have any emergency. But something about Andrew made her think otherwise. She didn't have to ask him as she could read his blank eyes. This thing bothered her but right now she needed to attend this matter as a part of her profession.
"I know you don't meet people without any appointment. But my case is a bit sensitive and serious and I couldn't wait for an appointment."
Lara nodded at his words.
"How can I help you then, Mr. Jones?"
"I want to divorce my wife!!"
Lara held back the gasp that was about to leave her mouth. He is married!!!
Why does it matter to you? Her subconscious asked her.
That's true, why does his marriage bother her? Ignoring her undefined thoughts, she raised her one eyebrow at him,
"I can't just file a divorce petition. I need to know from the start."
Lara said professionally. Andrew nodded his head. Lara was sure she saw a flicker of sadness going right from his eyes. But he was quick to cover it up.
" My PA will send the required files to you that you will need to study the case."
Lara was shocked at his changed behavior. He sounded rude and arrogant.
"Excuse me, I can't just study cases based on some files. I need to listen to your and your wife's side. After that I can file a divorce petition."
Andrew didn't say anything and stood up that enraged Lara.
"I'll find some other lawyer then. Thank you for your time, Miss Lara."
Andrew went out not giving her another glance. Lara fumed in anger,
"Go to hell, Mr. Andrew Jones."
