~~ It is our darkest moment when we get to know who really cares for us ~~
Xavier didn't talk to Valentina after his last encounter in the room. He gave her time to talk to her mother. She was going to join them for the reception but will again come back as she has her own business to handle.
"You both go first. We will come later."
Xavier nodded at his mother. He knew his mother wanted to console Mrs. Constance. Xavier's heart ached as he saw his little wife's face red with tears sliding from the corner of her eyes. He wanted to go towards her, take her into his arms and wipe those tears away from her face.
Xavier without any second thoughts went near her. He held her hand and gave it a firm squeeze.
Valentina didn't want to leave her only family. She never thought of staying away from her mom. But here she is now, leaving her mother and going to another country to live.
She turned to her right side when she felt a tight yet comforting grip on her hand. She blinked her eyes to get rid of the tears which were blinding her vision.
"Don't cry, little one."
Xavier bent down his head and whispered in her ears.
Valentina couldn't gather herself to retort back. She was emotionally drained.
After a few more chit-chat, Xavier and Valentina were bid off in Xavier's car. They were going to board Xavier's personal plane to get back to country A. They delayed one more hour as they were yet to get the airline's clearance.
*****
Xavier and Valentina sat on the two sides, beside the window. A huge gap was in between them.
Xavier was lost in his thoughts. He felt confused and misled. Before he could get to a conclusion, he heard sobbs coming from his right side.
He let out a sigh as he saw his little white whimpering softly. He felt a tug in his heart seeing her condition. It felt like he was the one who was in pain.
"Valentina."
Valentina stiffened when she heard her name being called in a deep and husky voice. She slowly turned her face and saw Xavier calling out to her with a soft gaze.
My name sounds so beautiful from his mouth.
Valentina thought to herself.
"Come here."
Valentina shrugged off her thoughts. She didn't know what was coming into her. She started scooting closer to him. She stopped beside him with a few inches gap in between them.
"I said to come here."
Xavier exclaimed and pulled her into his lap. Valentina gasped and covered her mouth with her hand. She saw from her peripheral vision that the driver was eyeing them. Xavier pulled the partition between the front seat and the back seat and sat leisurely with his little wife on his lap.
"What happened??"
Xavier asked softly while caressing her hair. Valentina found something soothing and addicting in his voice that broke the damn doors to her tears. She started crying hysterically, not caring about how she looked at this time.
"I...I'm….missing mom...I…."
"Shush!!! Calm down!!!!"
Xavier felt his soul being suffocated as he saw her gasping for breath and not being able to form a proper sentence.
Xavier opened the cap of the water bottle and made her drink the water. Due to her continuous hiccups, she spilled some water on his expensive suit. Xavier chuckled seeing the horrified expression on her face.
"It's ok!! Little one!! Nothing big happened. You are missing your mom right??? But she is coming for the reception. Then why are you crying?"
"But she will go back again!!"
Xavier heard a faint reply coming from her. He tipped her chin up and looked into her tear welled eyes.
"Do you want her to stay near you in country A?"
Valentina nodded her head continuously but then stopped thinking something,
"Can you do it?"
Xavier lost his breath as he looked at her innocent face. He knew he would do the damn thing if she always asks something from him like this.
"I'll do anything for you, little one."
Xavier said in the flow of time. He didn't even realize how happy Valentina was with his few words. Valentina flung her hands around his neck and hugged him tightly,
"Thank you,,, thank you so much!!"
Xavier's eyes widened when a pair of lips smacked on his cheeks. He looked at Valentina who looked exactly like a kid who was happy getting his favourite candy.
"Sorry, I always kiss on cheeks whenever someone gives me something."
There was a tradition in Valentina's country. They greeted each other by kissing on their cheeks or whenever they got gifts.
Xavier gripped her upper arm in a tight hold. Kissing cheeks for gifts!!!!! How many men did then get the feel of her soft petals against their skin????
Valentina was shocked with the sudden change. A while ago he was so soft and calm and suddenly this rage and anger.
"How many men did you kiss??"
Xavier asked in a deep voice, scaring the s**t out of Valentina. Valentina aggressively started shaking her head in denial.
"No, no, no I never kissed any male. I never felt comfortable so mom also refrained."
Xavier sighed in relief.
"Thank God, only I got to taste those rosy petals."
Valentina's cheeks burnt in blush hearing his words. She then realized her position. She was sitting on his lap and talking like they have known each other for ages.
She tried getting down when she felt a hand sliding around her waist and pulling her onto a hard chest.
"Where are you going!"
Xavier asked with a skeptical look.
"To my seat"
Hearing Valentina's curt answer, Xavier shook his head and held her firmly against his chest.
"No, stay here."
Xavier's voice held an authoritative tone which made Valentina obey him.
She sat there quietly and Xavier hugged her tightly to his chest and rested his chin on her head. He closed his eyes and breathed into her sweet scent.
*****
"Sir, we reached!!"
Xavier opened his eyes when he heard a voice. He groggily looked here and there and then found the source of voice from the other side of the partition.
He looked down at his little wife who was snuggled up to him and was snoring softly.
Xavier opened the door and came out with her in his arms. The weather was cold and chilly that made Valentina to hug Xavier tightly.
Xavier smiled and started walking. All the necessary formalities were done beforehand.
He climbed up the stairs and went inside his business suite. Xavier wanted to go to the small bedroom and sleep with his little wife but they couldn't do it at this moment. They had to sit on the seats for the take off.
Xavier sat on his seat and made Valentina sit on her beside him. He was reluctant but was forced to do this. He couldn't wait for the first 10 minutes to go. Valentina's head kept on falling on his shoulder and her brown hair strands disturbed her precious sleep.
Just after the 10 minutes ended, Valentina was out of her seat and into his arms. Xavier then took them towards the small bedroom. He laid her down on the bed and covered her with the duvet.
Xavier sat beside her and started admiring her face,
Her thick eyelashes kissed her cheekbones. The dimples on her cheeks were so prominent that it only made him poke it. Her full lips that tasted heavenly and the cute mole beside her lips which was faint. One wouldn't be able to see it unless he is nearer to her and it would be damn if Xavier let anyone come near his little wife.
His eyes fell on her collarbones that were peeking out from her dress. He didn't want to be a pervert but couldn't help but caressed the outline of her collarbones.
He smirked knowing that the old man's tactic failed. He thought he would make Valentina his weakness but guess the old man was wrong, utterly wrong. He will make the best use of this forced bride.
Xavier was about to lay beside her after pecking her lips. But then suddenly the lights went off giving a rise of panic in Xavier's heart. He has a damn NYCTOPHOBIA.
