Chapter 9 // Ignorance hurts //

~~ A little ignorance from someone special pricks like a needle and hurts like hell ~~
Xavier opened his eyes slowly, adjusting it to his surroundings. He gripped the thing more tightly when he saw the darkness again.
"Aaah!!"
Xavier sobered up when he heard a wincing sound. He looked up from the soft pillow and was shocked to find a sleeping Valentina underneath him. His eyes widened when he realized he was sleeping on her chest. Red hue covered his ears and neck. He couldn't even remove himself from her as she had a deadly grip on his torso.
"Little one!!!"
Xavier whispered in his raspy voice.
"Ummm, mom, two more minutes!!"
Xavier chuckled, forgetting his surroundings. If it was any other time then Xavier would have created an uproar by now. But at this time he didn't care about the darkness around him. He was more focused on the elfin creature lying underneath him doing wonders to his phobia.
"Little one, you will get hurt. Let me sleep sideways."
Xavier leaned down and murmured in her ears.
Valentina whispered something and loosened her grip on his torso. Xavier slid down and laid beside her. He didn't want sleep anymore and wanted to get away from the darkness. Before he could move out of the bed, Valentina turned towards him and slid her hands around his torso and snuggled to his chest.
Xavier mused at her. He smiled when he heard what she was saying,
"Mr. Cuddles, why are you feeling so hard? Looks like your fur has become rough! Don't worry, I'll give you a nice bath after I wake up."
Xavier held back his laughter when he heard her. He propped down his head on his hand and twirled her brown hair strand with his finger.
"Mmm, will you give me a bath too?"
Xavier asked teasingly.
"I'll always give. What's the big deal?? Now don't talk and let me sleep."
Xavier was amused when she slapped his mouth to shut it. Xavier closed his eyes, feeling her soft hand on his lips. He jerked off when he heard the announcement that the flight was going to land. They had to be in the seat.
Xavier looked around and gulped down seeing the darkness. He was scared but not like other times. This time he had someone who was holding him. Xavier took a deep breath and searched for his phone. Finding his phone, he switched on the flashlight.
He kept the phone in his suit's pocket and stood up from the bed with Valentina in his arms. He came out of the room and sighed in relief. He was never brave enough to come out of the dark room with his phobia but this time he came out.
He sat on his seat and placed Valentina on his lap. He clutched her tightly as the plane landed.

Getting into the car, Xavier instructed the driver to drive to the bungalow instead of his Villa in the city.
Xavier fell into thoughts. Thoughts that just came into his mind. With each passing second, his face became more rigid and expressionless. He clenched his jaw and then looked down at Valentina. For a flicker of a moment, he relaxed his expression but then changed it into a rigid one and placed Valentina on the seat beside him. He wanted to cradle her to his arms when he saw her head dangling but those unwanted thoughts made him take back his hands.
When the car reached the bungalow, Xavier went out of the car leaving behind Valentina asleep in the car. The driver looked shocked but didn't dare to say anything,
° Valentina POV °
"Ma'am!!"
"Ma'am!! Please wake up!!"
I opened my eyes slowly when I heard voices around me. I sobered up when I saw a male leaning on the door. He kept a polite distance between us and was wearing white clothes. Probably he is a driver.
I sat straight on the seat and looked around. Fear engulfed me when I didn't saw Mr. Night.
"Where is he?"
"Huh!!"
The driver seemed confused but yet I couldn't believe him.
"Where's Mr. Night??"
He looked down and mumbled,
"Sir has gone inside the bungalow. I have been trying to wake up for the last 10 minutes."
I was baffled hearing the driver. He...he...left me here in the car and went inside. How could he?
I couldn't see clearly as my eyes welled with tears. An unknown pain struck my heart seeing his ignorance.
"Ma'am!!"
The driver's voice brought me out of my thoughts. He had a sympathetic look on his face which I didn't like a bit. Nodding at him, I got out of the car holding my big gown.
I stared at the big bungalow in front of me. It looked beautiful and aesthetic.
I saw a middle aged woman wearing black knee light dress with a white apron draped around her waist almost running near me.
When she reached me, she started huffing for air and then flashed a big smile at me.
"Welcome, little Mrs. I'm Maria, the head servant. I'll help you inside."
The woman named Maria said while taking hold of my long gown.
"My luggage??"
I questioned her in a low voice. I was hurt and didn't have the courage to behave like my normal self after being ditched by my husband in the car. That too after I comforted him when he was scared.
"Oh, the luggage hasn't arrived yet. The other servants will bring it to your room as soon as it arrives."
I gave her a meek nod and started walking. Entering the bungalow, I was impressed by its interior design. My mom is an interior designer and she has her own firm. But this interior design looks so beautiful.
I was busy admiring the design when Maria led me to the room downstairs. The room had a minimal color of black and grey texture and had different dimmed lights.
Overall, the room looked classy and pretty.
"Young Mrs, you can take a rest for sometime. I'll prepare food for you both."
I gave her a smile and she went away. I took off my heels and my veil. I went near the vanity table. It was almost empty.
I sat on the chair and looked at their mirror. I reached for my zipper at the back. I could pull it down a little bit as my hands are two small. The gown came loosened from the shoulder and hung on my upper arms showcasing my sharp collarbones. I stretched my hands while closing my eyes.
When I opened my eyes, I got the biggest shock of my life. My jaw dropped on the floor seeing the image on the mirror.

Why did Xavier behave like this with Valentina after all the comfort she provided him?
