Chapter 2: Rivalry Ignites

1055 Words
The evening air had grown cooler, brushing gently against Bunny’s skin as she stepped out of the café. Her brown hair bounced slightly with each step, catching the fading sunlight like liquid bronze. She paused for a moment, turning back to the two men who had left such an impression on her heart—and more dangerously, her life. “Bye,” she called softly, giving a sweet wave. Her voice carried through the quiet street, light and friendly, but full of warmth. Slasher’s long black hair shifted as he leaned against his motorcycle, golden eyes narrowing slightly. “I saw her first,” he said, voice low and tinged with irritation. Tank, standing a few feet away with his arms crossed, chuckled, dark-golden eyes glinting with amusement. “She has beautiful purple eyes,” he said, his smile soft but laced with possessiveness. “And I think I noticed them first, thank you very much.” Slasher’s smirk turned sharp, like a blade unsheathed. “First doesn’t matter if she chooses me,” he shot back, tension in his voice. Tank only shrugged, leaning back slightly with his usual calm confidence. “We’ll see about that,” he said, voice steady, though there was a fire simmering underneath. Bunny, oblivious to the silent war brewing behind her, had a different kind of excitement coursing through her veins. Her first day at the library had arrived, and she was eager to make a good impression. She walked down the quiet streets, body glitter still faintly sparkling in the soft streetlight, humming a little tune under her breath. The library was a grand, peaceful place, with the scent of old books mixing with the faint aroma of polished wood. The elder man behind the counter greeted her warmly as she stepped inside. “Ah, you must be Bunny! I’m so glad you could help today,” he said, his smile gentle, almost grandfatherly. “I could use an extra pair of hands.” Bunny’s purple eyes lit up with excitement. “Of course! I’m happy to help.” She tied her hair back slightly and dove into her work. Hours seemed to pass in mere minutes as Bunny moved with efficiency and grace. She sorted books, filed new arrivals, and assisted patrons with a smile that made even the most mundane task feel magical. Twenty minutes in, she had finished everything she was asked to do. The elder man watched her for a moment, astonished. “My goodness… you worked so fast!” He clasped his hands together, gratitude shining in his eyes. “Go ahead and go home. You’ve earned today’s pay, and I can’t thank you enough for the help.” Bunny smiled, a happy, genuine grin that made the elder man’s heart warm. “Thank you, sir! I’m really glad I could help.” She gathered her things, feeling a quiet pride in her chest. Her first day had been a success, and the thought of returning tomorrow made her heart flutter with anticipation. Outside, the sun had fully set, leaving the city bathed in soft streetlights. And somewhere in the distance, both Slasher and Tank were still thinking about her—about the way she laughed, the way her purple eyes seemed to glow, and how she had unknowingly ignited a rivalry that would only grow stronger. Neither brother would give up. Neither would hold back. And Bunny… Bunny was blissfully unaware of just how deep into their world she had already stepped.Bunny hummed softly to herself as she walked down the quiet streets, her headphones playing her favorite song. The gentle rhythm matched her steps, the glitter in her hair catching the streetlights like tiny stars. Her heart was still light from her first successful day at the library, her purple eyes sparkling with excitement and contentment. Unbeknownst to her, she wasn’t alone. A few streets behind, Tank moved with careful precision, his long strides keeping him a perfect distance away. At his side was his best friend, Arrow, who was practically bouncing with anticipation. “She’s too perfect,” Tank muttered under his breath, dark golden eyes fixed on Bunny’s silhouette. “I can’t let Slasher get to her first.” Arrow chuckled. “Relax, man. You’ve got the charm and the protection vibe going for you. She’ll see it.” Not far behind, Slasher prowled along the opposite side of the street, long black hair brushing his shoulders, golden eyes glinting like molten metal. His best friend, Razor, trailed him, silent but watchful. “She’s mine,” Slasher said with a low growl. “And you, Razor, better make sure no one—especially Tank—gets close.” Razor smirked, leaning casually against a lamppost. “Relax, boss. You’re Slasher. If anyone’s getting her, it’s you.” Bunny finally reached her little house, a humble but cozy space tucked between the streets like a quiet secret. She set down her bag and smiled, relieved to be home. The small wooden structure wasn’t much, but it was hers—and that thought filled her with warmth. As she stepped inside, neither Tank nor Slasher made a move to reveal themselves, yet both lingered nearby, practically burning with jealousy. They were neighbors, after all, but neither had yet admitted how deeply they were drawn to her. Tank’s voice came through in a quiet growl as he watched her through a small gap between the hedges. “She doesn’t even know what she’s walking into… and neither does Slasher. But I’ll make sure she’s safe.” Slasher’s smirk turned into something darker, almost predatory. “Safe isn’t enough. She’s mine. And I don’t care if Tank knows it.” Both brothers stayed in the shadows, their rivalry simmering, each trying to figure out the other’s next move. Their best friends, Arrow and Razor, knew better than to step in, only watching as the tension escalated between the two men. Inside, Bunny kicked off her shoes and flopped onto the couch, exhausted but happy. She had no idea that her quiet little home, her sanctuary, was being watched by two dangerous, intense men—both obsessed, both determined, and both rivals for her heart. The night outside was calm, but inside the hearts of Tank and Slasher, the storm had already begun.
