I got out of my bed, noticing the blood-stained pillow previously beneath my head. I quickly changed into jeans and a big black hoodie, one that covers the scars on my arms.
I walked into the bathroom and put my hair in a side braid, covering up the scar on my neck. Then I got my makeup bag out and started to cover up the bruise forming on the side of my nose.
I wish someone would tell me I'm beautiful, but I know I'm not. I stare at my blue eyes in the mirror, wishing someone would help me. But no one wants the broken girl with a broken boyfriend and a broken family. Nobody.
-------
I head downstairs and walk outside, careful not to wake my mother up. I don't want a beating this morning, too.
I began walking the 20-minute walk to school, looking at every passing car. I wonder if the perfect people in their cars are judging me. They probably are, I mean I'm a piece of s**t according to my entire family.
As I walked through the school doors, Ana walked up from behind me. f**k.
"Hey, Shorty! Have you shrunk an inch or two since yesterday?" She said, resting her bony arm on my shoulder, smirking at her friends that were next to her. I was a small girl at 5' 1". As I started to walk away, she grabbed me by the arm very firmly. Damn her grip is strong. "Look at me when I talk to you, asshole!"
A crowd started forming around us, and I looked around, anxious that people were judging me again. I quickly spotted a pair of emerald green eyes in the crowd. They belonged to Rian, the hot guy everybody wanted but never got. I noticed he was looking at me. Maybe I'm just dreaming.
Then, somebody pushed their way through the crowd. Jace.
"Come here, baby. Let's walk to class." He spoke. Ana was fuming behind us. We walked to the class I had first, and he gave me a kiss on the forehead and walked away. His friends were walking by and I could hear Jace say to them, "She's such a wimp. She can't even handle herself in a simple situation. I have to rescue her every damn time."
"Dude, you should dump her," one of his friends said.
"Nah man, then I won't get our drugs," he laughed, walking away.
I walked into the class, sitting in the back like usual. Nobody ever sat next to me, ever. Then I noticed the emerald green eyes that I saw earlier. The beholder of them did the unexpected. He sat next to me.
"Are you okay?" Rian asked, clearly concerned.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine," I said, clearing my throat.
"What happened to your nose? It looks slightly bruised."
"I fell," I quickly blurted out, not thinking. I was really nervous whenever he was in a room with me. God, he was beautiful. His perfect jawline. The way his dark brown hair fell over his face slightly. The muscles that rippled underneath his shirt. Hell, I don't even know why he's talking to me.
I started to have an anxiety attack. I could see black dots in my vision. My throat started to close up. I started to shake uncontrollably. Suddenly, my psychology teacher stopped his lesson. "Rian, can you take her to the nurse?" He asked, clearly concerned.
Then the world started to fade to black as a pair of strong arms grasped my body.
