Mazikeen looked at the hoodie in her passenger seat. It was weird that Weston gave it to her. Maybe it was innocent, maybe it wasn't as nefarious as she thought. Everyone complained when she had her heater on in the office, and she had a sweater and a hoodie in the office. She just didn't care. She just let them b***h, but she wasn't about to tell Weston that and have him take his hoodie back. She pulled up to her ex's house to see Peter waiting on the front porch with their daughter, Sedona. "Hey, sorry I got caught up closing," she said, walking up the steps. "It's ok, I should still make it to work on time," he replied, picking up Sedona's bag. "Well was she good at school this week?" she asked "Yeah her teachers never said anything" "Well alright then, come on Sedona say bye to dad and let's head home" she watched as Sedona hugged her dad "Alright I'll see you next Saturday" she said walking with Sedona to her truck. "Did you have fun at Dad's?" Mazikeen asked her daughter as they pulled out of Peter's driveway "Yeah, but Ryan came over a few times" Ryan was Peter's boyfriend and the man he had cheated on her with, it didn't bother her much because she had a sneaking suspicion Peter was gay not long after they got together so it didn't affect her as much as it did Sedona, Sedona was still getting used to the fact that mom and dad were no longer together and under the same roof. "Well, what's wrong with that? I thought you liked Ryan?" she asked, looking at her daughter in the rearview. "I do like Ryan, he's fun, and he likes to play tea party with me, but I don't like it when him and daddy kiss it's icky" her daughter said making a disgusted face "Sedona Lee there's nothing wrong with them kissing your daddy and Ryan love each other, and they love you and that's all that matters" Mazikeen scolded "If I saw you kissing it would be icky too mommy, it's icky when Papa kisses Honey" she snapped, Mazikeen just rolled her eyes. "What do you want for dinner, baby?" she asked, pulling up to her long driveway. "Can we have pizza?" Sedona shouted. Mazikeen rolled her eyes. She should've known that's what she'd want. "Of course, baby," she said, heading up her driveway. "I want cheese only!" Sedona said as they pulled up to the house. "OK, cheese only for you then!" Mazikeen said, grabbing her bags from the passenger seat, almost forgetting Weston's hoodie, she turned back and grabbed it. "Mommy, what's that?" Sedona asked, grabbing her bag and pointing at the hoodie. "Oh, it's a hoodie, my friend gave it to me since I'm always cold." Sedona rolled her eyes as she ran up the porch steps to the front door, throwing it open. Mazikeen never bothered locking the doors. She lived in the middle of nowhere, up a mile-long driveway. The closest neighbors were a mile out, so she did not need to lock the doors. She looked out at the pasture, watching her horses, Draven and Lestat, run through the pasture playing around. "Mama, hurry up, I'm hungry," Sedona shouted from the house. "I'm coming!" Mazikeen shouted back as she headed up the steps and through the door, closing it behind her. "Alright, kiddo, what movie do you want to watch while we eat?" Usually, they ate dinner at the table, but on Saturday nights, they always watched a movie with dinner. "Hmmmm, let's see Bones & Bells," she said, already putting it on the TV. Once again, Mazikeen knew she shouldn't have asked. Bones & Bells had been Sedona's favorite movie since she was 2, thanks to her dad. Roughly about halfway through the movie, Sedona fell asleep, so Mazikeen carried her to her bed and tucked her in, kissing her on the forehead before closing the door and heading to the living room to clean up. As soon as she started to clean up, her phone rang. She picked it up. "There's something you're not telling me," her best friend, Delia, said mysteriously from the other end of the phone. "Delia, I haven't the slightest clue as to what you're talking about," Mazikeen replied sarcastically. "You little s**t, tell me about the new guy at work" she rolled her eyes forgetting that she had texted Delia earlier in the day about Weston "Oh you mean Weston? Delia, he's not new. He came from another location. He just lives in Ashkey, so his commute went from 30 minutes to 2 minutes," she said, already bored with this conversation. "Wait, is this like Weston Weston like THE Weston?" Delia squealed excitedly. Mazikeen rolled her eyes. "Yes, it's THE Weston." she could hear Delia silently freaking out on the other end. "Deal, remember to breathe, dude," she said, laughing. "So wait, you're single now and suddenly the man you've literally been dreaming about is suddenly working with you every day?" she said, fangirling. "Yes," she replied feverishly "Oh my god tell me everything" Delia replied "There's not much to tell, he surprised me with an energy drink this morning and then again surprised me with lunch. He even stayed to help me close and gave me his hoodie," she said, sitting down at her kitchen table. "Not much to tell my ass! He gave you his hoodie?!" "Yes, he gave me his hoodie. He said it was because I'm always cold. Oh, and he dropped the bomb on me that he's divorced" she said, almost whispering, "Wait a damn minute, he's divorced too!" Mazikeen heard Delia slap her table. "Yes, he's divorced too," she said. "Oh my god, it's like the universe wants this to happen," Delia said, way too excited. "Shut up, Delia," Mazikeen said, rolling her eyes. They talked a little longer before hanging up. Mazikeen gathered her things to head up to bed. At the base of the stairs, she looked back at Weston's hoodie resting on her work bag; she decided to take it with her. Once in her bedroom, she walked into her closet to retrieve a pair of pajamas from her dresser. She decided on a pair of shorts and an old tank top. She brushed her teeth and pulled her hair into a bun before walking back into her room. She looked at Weston's hoodie lying on her bed and decided to put it on. As she put his hoodie on, she realized it smelled like his cologne with a faint hint of cigarettes. The scent made her slightly wet between her legs. Mazikeen climbed into bed and grabbed her book. She always reads at least a couple of chapters before bed. She quickly found herself unable to focus on her book. Weston's scent engulfed her like a storm in slow motion: cologne, cigarettes, and the kind of warmth that leaves you cold when it’s gone. Mazikeen threw her book on the bedside table and let the thought of Weston mixed with his scent drift her off to sleep.
