CHAPTER 2
Author's POV
“You’re just home in time,” Mrs Pietro, Alessandro's mom, chuckles as soon as Alessandro walks into the house.
“f**k!! I'm damn hungry,” Alessandro grunts as he throws his bag onto the couch, pulling a seat to settle down.
“What’s for dinner?” he asks as he rolls the sleeve of his shirt up, his mom passes him a bowl to wash his hands.
“Carbonara and chicken parmesan,” She replies with a smile, then snaps her head towards the kitchen entrance, “Be fast, Serafina,” She says, then turns to Alessandro. “I shouldn't be asking how your day went, should I?”
Alessandro grins and opens his mouth to speak, but Serafina walks in, three plates trapped in her palms, “Someone’s brother is back from work,” She smiles as she drops the plates then rushes over to Alessandro, “You heard the news today, didn't you?” She bugs and Mrs Pietro sighs from her spot. She shakes her head and begins dishing out the meals.
“Hmmmm, is this about the robbery?” Alessandro asks and she nods, her face contorts into concern as she stares at her brother. “Well, we did hear, but….. it was already late. I mean, we didn't get the information on time, the robbery was already over when we got to the scene and….” He stops talking to glance at Serafina who pouts her lips, goosebumps appearing on her skin.
She already knows what happened next after that, but deep down, she wishes that there is a twist…. Maybe 1? It'll really help her brother to trace those bloodied criminals. She might not be a detective, but she wishes that the criminals are caught and punished justly for their crimes. Rome is in ruins, all thanks to those thieves.
Her stomach drops when she notices Alessandro's expression, “Don't tell me no one survived,” She closes her eyes, disappointment coating her words. Her instincts are always right. Just then, Mrs Pietro slams her palms on the table, gaining their attention as Serafina flashes her eyes open.
“Whose fault is it that they died? That the criminals haven't been caught? Your brother's?....” “Mom…..” Serafina calls softly.
“Don’t dare cut me off! Your brother only joined the force a month ago, so how's it his fault?” She snarls, her gaze turning fury as she glares at Serafina who taps Alessandro in fear. “She’s at it again, she'll soon explode,” She mutters, her eyes not leaving her mom's.
It's always expected of Mrs Pietro to be this way. Right from the beginning, she was never in support of Alessandro being a detective, her husband died while working on a case and ever since then, it's been a nightmare to her.
“She never said that mom, stop exaggerating,” Alessandro speaks up, cutting through the silent room and Mrs Pietro scoffs, serving their meals to them and Serafina smirks.
“Mom, should I drop out of school and help my brother then? I really want him to…” “Then do, I'll be grateful,” She cuts her off and Alessandro chuckles as he picks up his cutlery.
“Really?” Serafina grins, amusement appearing on her face. “While at that, be prepared not to step your feet back here,” She threatens and Serafina laughs out loud.
She stops laughing then picks up her cutlery too, with one glance at her mother, she begins eating, her mind suddenly drifting off.

The chancellor's mansion.
The chancellor's compound is already a mess, the bodies of four of his guards are on the floor, their blood pooled around them. The atmosphere reeks of blood and more blood is likely to be spilled.
As they head towards the main entrance, the enforcer's eyes turn murderous, “Fast!! La Vipera is on the way, they'll be here soon,” the voice boomed from her bud and her eyes turn darker. She hastens her step and within seconds, she's already in the living room with Marisa, her second hand.
The rest of the gang members are busy, offing the chancellor's guards outside.
The chancellor and his family are having their dinner when the enforcer walks in on them, she retrieves her gun as she shoots down the maid who is the first to sight them.
The maid falls down with wide eyes, her body goes limp as she dies on the spot.
The chancellor's eyes widens as he turns, “The…. The enforcer?” He shudders, his shoulders collapse in fear and the enforcer chuckles.
The enforcer of all people?
That expression of shock, fear, anxiety, and tension that's plastered on the chancellor's face. It's so thrilling to see and she's enjoying it.
“Papa…. Is… is she the prominent killer and thief?” Flavia, the chancellor's little daughter asks, her little voice is laced with curiosity. The chancellor's wife gasps in shock as she grabs her, her hands flowing across Flavia's face as she covers Flavia's mouth, “Don’t talk,” She whispers into her ears, her heart thumping in fear.
What have they done to invoke the enforcer's visit? No, that's a wrong question. You don't have to do anything to invoke her visit, so far you're in la Vipera's list and you're worth the hassle_you’ve got the cash speaking for you, then you've automatically invoked her visit because she's brazen when it comes to la Vipera and money.
La Vipera enemies are hers too! So far La Vipera goes crazy and insane, then she's in too.
“I must say, your daughter is sharp tongued,” The enforcer says as she sits on the nearest couch, then flicks her finger and Marisa walks to her, “I have limited time, la Vipera will soon be here, give him the details and let's leave,” She instructs as she lights a cigar which she begins smoking from.
“We’re here for peace, Mr. Chancellor. You already know who we are and how crazy the enforcer is when provoked, do us the courtesy of sparing three souls, only if you comply with us. Cash, that's what we need,” Marisa says, her voice is void of feelings.
The chancellor gulps a heavy lump then stands, “I have no money and…,” “Aisssh!!” the enforcer Snickers from her seat as she shoots him. He's lucky because the bullet only took his arm and he grunts as he falls back to his chair.
“Papa!!!!!” Flavia screams in tears as she tries to run to her father, but her mom holds her tight, making it difficult for her to move.
“She just told you we're here for peace, didn't she?” She scowls angrily, her face turns red as she strides towards them.
The chancellor's wife panics in fear as she holds Flavia tight to herself, tears pricking the corner of her eyes.
“Spare us the courtesy? She did say that too, but heck? You're so annoying,” She continues, her gun searching for who to take down next.
Her gaze lands on the chancellor's wife next and she smirks deviously, her finger moves to the trigger and before anyone could grasp her next move, the chancellor's wife is already on the floor, blood gushing out of her chest and mouth.
“Mama!!!!!” Flavia cries in horror, her scream tearing through the room.
“Stop….. stop, I beg of you,” The chancellor pleads. The enforcer lids stretches more in anger as she points her gun towards Flavia next, “You know, I'm already pissed to stop,” She Scowls heartlessly and instantly….
An ear splitting scream spills out of Flavia's mouth.

Minutes later ~
La Vipera squats down, her fist is balled and her jaw is hardened as she stares at all the corpses littered in the living room.
As soon as she stepped into the compound, she already knew that there's something off. The dead Bodies of the guards were enough evidence to her, but she needed to be sure and here she is, in the midst of the chancellor's corpse, his wife and that of the maids.
She leans forward and a low, menacing smirk appears on her face as her eyes land on the masterpiece of blood.
★I did double-cross you again, didn't I?★ is boldly written on the floor with the chancellor's blood.
There's one person she knows who can do this and that's the enforcer. Her eyes turn darker as she stands straight then turns to Alessia, “What do you think?” She queries, her gaze turning obnoxious. “The enforcer's doing. But why's she doing this? Does she fancy double-crossing?” Alessia asks, her tone sharp and a hint of trepidation mixing with her words.
“No, that's not the question. Enforcer can't double-cross me this much? Don't you think so?” She asks further and Alessia nods. Just as she opens her mouth to speak, she's interrupted by the blaring of the police siren and their eyes widens.
“Those foolish cops!!” Bobby grunt's angrily. “We should stay back and fight,” Lavinia, a member of the gang retorts.
“f*****g bîtch! Why should we engage in an open bullet spree with the cops? We're not the ones that robbed the chancellor! f**k, let's leave,” Alessia says, and Lavinia scoffs as she rushes out.
“Let’s leave, la Vipera!!” Bobby says, rushing out of the house too.
All the members rush out too and hop into the car, except La Vipera who looks shocked.
As the blaring of the police siren gets closer, Bobby's horns increase, while some of the members call out to la Vipera to hasten her steps but no….
She's already tranced out, her mind is clouded and right now, her head is in a messy state, strategizing how to murder the enforcer.
Alessia pops out her head through the window, “They’re closing up on us!! f**k, Marcella!!!!” She screams her name and that did work. She snaps back to reality, and as she tries to rush out, Bobby steps on the speed, zooming out of the compound in a deranged manner.
“f**k!!!” She spats, then tries rushing over to a nearby speedy bike but before she could get to it, the police van already double-crossed her, making her halt on her steps.
She rolls her tongue in her mouth, the night moon hovering over her scary face mask, then she rubs her knuckles which is in a thick hand glove, and with a slight nod she says, “Bring it on, I'mma send you to hell.”
