Chapter 4

“Oh,” I rubbed my head. This school had something, they had already succeeded in their teenage years. I moved my gaze around and I saw everywhere a trending blogger, a research scholar and many more. A hope rose in my heart that I would be one of them. “I will use the restroom, you guys go ahead.” I waved my hand and arrived in the washroom. They opted for economics. I washed my little sweaty face in the basin. The humidity is f*****g high here. Suddenly, the door of the toilet opened and a few girls stepped out of it. I stared through the mirror, they were Monika, Selina and Elena. Selina threw a dirty tissue in the dustbin. “Heyya… Newcomer...” She waved at me and left. The foul smell from the entire toilet forced me to plug my nose. As if someone didn't flush after using the toilet. I applied tinted lipstick on my lips and got ready to leave, but paused again. "Ummmm.. Umm..” the whining voice rushed to my ears and stopped me from leaving the washroom. Some girl was crying. Triplet’s girlfriend came out of the same door. I opened the door and only one word jumped out of my mouth. “Shitttt…” It was real s**t. A girl must be around the same age as us, her face covered in poop. She was stinking like hell and there was no hole where that s**t didn’t go. I haven't seen such a horrible thing in my life. She hid her poop-covered face behind her palm. As soon as she understood my presence, she took her hands away and stopped crying. I immediately went away from her. I did not understand whether I should stay or leave. My lecture was going to start in five minutes. But the door opened and she went out. She grabbed a piece of tissue and wiped her face with so much force that it would wipe her skin so hard that it would peel out of her bones. She took a fistful of water in her trembling hands and splashed it on her face. Even after watching her for more than ten minutes, I could not realize what happened to her. I pity her, even though it was none of my business. She watched herself in the mirror, “You must be a newcomer.” She guessed by the way I was staring at her. I immediately turned my head and pretended to search for something in my purse. I would rather die than be seen by someone in this condition. “Yeah...” I nodded and took out a comb from the purse to swirl it into my dark brown hair. Her sore red eyes must be swollen from crying, still the inner corners of her eyes were not cleaned properly and filled with poop. I was disgusted but I pitied her at the same time, only I knew how to restrain myself from throwing up. I was not going to eat anything for an entire day. “Did they do this with you?” I nearly watched their attitude in the canteen and realized it must be them. “They are pathetic. Being omega is the worst thing in this institution. Didn’t you wonder why everyone is so Elite here.” Even in the worst conditions, she laughed sarcastically. She seemed habitual of such kinds of things. I recalled most of the people Joe introduced me to were Alpha, Beta or Gamma’s daughter. Until now, he had not introduced me to any Omega. “But they say that this institution has no partiality. But they are the ones who never let me study any omegas here.” She said and I skipped a breath. A tense sting rolled through my body. I somewhat realized why Joe asked me to never reveal my identity. I was not even omega, I was still lingering between my identities. Forgetting about my mate, I never shifted, not even knowing whether I had a wolf or not. Mom said if I was really a wolf, I would have shifted at the age of thirteen. She also added I need to study hard to live on my own or end up with a human like my dad. “You should complain to the higher authorities about them. They are bullying you.” I was in a public school in Mexico. Even though the school was not as rich as this one, it was clearly not such a bully. “Complaining about them? Even the higher authorities never liked us, they always wanted to see their children succeed. They were scared if Omega started rebelling against them. The only thing I can do is leave this school,” she cried, and left the washroom. I was thrilled by that incident. No matter what happened, I was not going to reveal my identity. It was just a matter of two years. I returned to Economics class. I chose Economics as my major subject. I stepped inside and my eyes tucked on those triplets, their girlfriends occupied the seats beside them. Their eyes stared at me with a suspicious look. I was already haunted by the story I had just heard about them. “Are you thinking about someone else?” Selina held Eric’s chin and asked him. They were loud enough that their voices tugged at my ears. She followed Eric’s gaze and stared at me. “Oh, what is she doing here?” Eric tapped his eyes. I realized only a few students were in the classroom. Economics were mostly chosen by the future Alpha and Luna because they would be handling the budget of the pack. My dad taught me human Economics when I was twelve. I tried to avoid their gazes, but Elena waved her hands at me. “Hey, come and sit with us.” She patted the chair. Offending them was not affordable. I quietly sat beside her in the same row of triplets and their girlfriends. Eric’s Hazel eyes met with me, I turned my gaze away and stared at the lecture even though I could not understand a bit. I could see the professor write a question regarding the budget. Even after trying a lot, I was not able to calm down my urge to turn my head and stared at those triplets. “I am a hundred percent sure that we will be mates…” She was convincing Eric that they would be mates. Edward seemed focused on his studies, yet his girlfriend snatched his pen and tried her best to disturb him. Last, Eleanor, who was already busy with his mobile phone and his girlfriend, rubbed her hands on his chest. The heat of rage aroused my blood when I saw their girlfriends lingering around them. Perhaps I had no partner. That’s why. “Eric...” Professor Hector took his name and I came to reality. The professor really asked him to get up. “Can’t you concentrate on this lecture?” He was agitated. Eric’s sharp eyes stared at the professor in an aggressive way. The entire class became silent, even the triplets and their gfs. “Get up.” the Professor wiped the board. Solve the question I wrote earlier.” I had read that question before he could wipe it. I just solved it a few days before coming here as it was one of the important questions for the university exams. I widened my eyes when I saw Edward had already solved the question before even the Professor finished writing his question. He is speedy and intelligent as well. “Edward, stop helping him.” the professor guessed. “You are not supposed to take this lecture if you are not interested. Eric was intelligent too, but unfortunately he did not even see the question because Selina kept holding his face. “Professor, Can I solve it?” I raised my hands. I grabbed the attention of most of the people. “Ezra?” the Professor smiled and nodded. I immediately went and answered the question. Eric’s face turned sour but Edward and Eleanor’s faces seemed impressed. “Pack budget should be distributed according to the needs and priorities, 30 percent of the food for the pack… Weapons… Clothes… shelter…” I started elaborating the answer I gave. “Well done, you will be a great Luna. You explained it so well..” The Professor praised me. I was on cloud nine. “Which pack do you belong to?” He asked me and I again turned pale. Triplet’s sharp eyes again moved at me. I poked my nails into the skin of my palm. A smile vanished from my lips. Luckily, the bell rang, and the Professor left. I picked up my books and digged into my bag. “Are you so interested in looking me down? You shouted at me before and now this,” Eric said, wrapping his arms across him. I paused and stared at his lowered eyes, which were lowered. He was as cold as ice. Edward adjusted his specs and went ahead. “You did great! That was the easiest step you took.” He appreciated me. My cheekbones turned red as I saw Edward from such a close distance. “The Professor deliberately gave him the tough question about the book,” Edward said. I nodded my head. “Then she should have silently watched the show,” Eric irritatingly left the classroom. His brothers and their girlfriends left the classroom too.
