Chapter 2

“Yeah! Never!” I smiled. ‘Until you change your mundane getup.” I pulled his blue checked shirt and teased him again. His styling hasn't changed yet; a plain black t-shirt and shirt with small checks on them. “Your nose is no longer running. Do you carry a hankie now?” He laughed. The American accent on his Scottish face looked a bit odd. “No, I will wipe it with your brand new shirt!” I said and we both laughed again while walking up the stairs. Joe was Mark’s nephew. His mom was Beta’s daughter, who died in a car accident. His father was Gamma from some different pack. I don’t remember the name of the pack. Joe told me all this, that too, in his email. His father was Scottish, that’s how he was half American and half Scottish. Curly red hair and freckles on his face. We shared the same age, the same birthday month. I remember him cutting the cake just five days after my birthday. So he will be seventeen too on his next birthday. But his physique was different. He was now very tall and looked like a mature teen with broad shoulders. Obviously, he belonged to the Wolf family, pure wolf blood. Even though they appear soft outside, they are f*****g strong inside. “I should not say this, but you have grown beautiful.” He adjusted his collar and smiled at me. I was an above-average girl, somewhere between beautiful and not beautiful but more inclined towards beautiful. “Did your girlfriend break up with you, stop saying that she would rip my hair off?” I reminded him how possessive his girlfriend about him. He laughed again. I pulled the bag to the room. The special thing about this room was that it was far away from my mom and Mark's room. As soon as I opened the door, I took a deep breath. The room was big enough, and had a separate toilet and bathroom. It was much better than the small room in Mexico. A satisfying grin appeared on my face when I saw a large glass window on one side and a small pond in front of it. I found the place where I was going to spend my next few years. At least till I get a good job. I moved the small table that was next to my bed, and placed it near the window. It had a small pond by the big window. Small fish were juggling in that pond, some ducklings walked with the fish caught in their beaks. They were probably still learning to fish. I looked at the other side of the pond, a big road. A plot ahead was covered by the bushes and then the same big white bungalow that I saw while coming there. The two upper floors and a big terrace that was in my eye’s reach. “Who lived there?” Pointing to that big house, I wondered about the outdoor gym with a triple set of everything. “Well…” Before Joe said something, the door opened and mom went inside. “Excuse us!” She stared at Joe and Joe left the room. I quickly opened my bag and pretended that I was rearranging the books onto the bookshelves. "Did you move this table here?" Mom looked at my shifted table carefully. “Yeah! I need sunlight for proper studying.” I knew she wouldn’t be mad if I excused it for studying. "Well, if you really did it for study." Mom's keen eye was on the Love Quadrangle book I was holding in my hand. She was a little strict about my studies. I immediately hid it behind. "Mark got you admitted to the Downtown Wisdom School." Her face split into a proud grin. "Downtown School?" As soon as I heard the name of the school, a sparkle of glee rose in my eyes, leaving my jaws dropping. Before coming here, I searched on the internet for good schools here. Above all, in those schools, the top ranked was Downtown Wisdom School. My grades were good enough, but not good enough to get admission to that school. And the fees were also three times more than other schools. “Well... Dustin Alpha is the trustee of this school and Luna Amelia is the Vice Chancellor.” She added. “Ohh…” I sighed. They were Alpha and Luna of the Red Shadow pack. Mark was the Beta of this pack. “Just focus on your studies, that’s what a high schooler should do.” Her eyes rolled over all the romantic and suspense book that I turned on the floor. “I don’t want to see your lights turned on by ten. Sleep early.” Mom walked out. I rubbed my forehead and picked my yellow night suit with brown teddy bear prints on it. My clothes were too thick for the climate here. I turned down the temperature of the air conditioner and jumped on my bed. "Reached?" Shasha's text had arrived. I didn't say anything, just made a video of my room and sent it to her. "s**t… Shit." If she was next to me, my ears would have been filled with s**t sound. "School?" She sent a small middle finger emoji along with a toilet to represent our school, I mean my previous school. We hated our school a lot. Our Economics teacher hardly appeared for five days a month. And a Literature teacher who cannot even write the spelling of Czechoslovakia correctly. Only two things we loved about our school were recess and a free hour so that we could talk about our favorite pop idol. "Downtown Wisdom School.” I sent it with an emoji ahead with goggles on. "Oh fukkkk!! Lucky you!! I could clearly hear that f**k in her voice. We chatted till late at night. What happened in the school after I left, she was telling me everything one by one. After a while, she stopped replying. Perhaps she got a call from Romie. It was two o'clock in the night but the excitement of the new school was not letting me close my eyes. Thinking of going to school tomorrow, a little beam of nervousness ran through my veins. The blurred light across the lancet appeared blazing as the room was too dark. The tip of the trees dazzled with silver. Everything was dark and silent but that big white bungalow across the road caught my attention again. All the lights were switched off in the bungalow but the lights of three rooms were on. Only then did the shadow of a girl appear in the middle window. Her shadow appeared as she was stripping. All her curves were very well visible. The way she was moving looked like she was dancing to some song, more like fantasy p**n. Everything was fine until that boy’s shadow appeared on the window. Extending her hand, the girl grabbed his collar and pulled him towards her. I called it a boy by the way he moved forward, and his well-built muscles flaunted through his shadow. Then she just rubbed her hands over his head and they both kissed each other. I swallowed in my throat and licked my lips, which was weird. I felt itching in my panties as if my undies were stuck between my thighs. I pulled my panties just from the top of my pants but it started itching even more. I urged to touch my bottom and immediately pressed my eyes. How can I think something horny just by watching the shadow of a boy and girl making out f*****g sixty feet away from me? I pulled up the window and went back to sleep. I imagined myself kissing my favorite idol almost a thousand times in my mind, but I never got such unusual thoughts. Just a shadow of it was compelling enough to make me drool this away. I curled down my lips. Luckily, this feeling faded my agitation away. I woke up snoozing my alarm almost eight times, I jumped out of bed and showed my hidden talent of bathing in just two minutes. I wore a peach coloured ruffled top and a mini denim skirt that I saved for my favorite day. Combing my wet hair, I didn’t tie it with a clip considering it would dry in the way. Joe was already on the porch waiting for me. I picked up my bag, which had hardly three notebooks and one novel. I ran down. As it was the first day, Mark and mom were ready to drop us off at the college. “That’s your first day. You shouldn’t be late.” Mom stared at her watch and then darted her eyes over my denim skirt which was shorter than she would think of. I pulled the skirt a little down to pretend it was not that short. We arrived at the school gate. Fortunately, I just faced the deadly stare of hers rather than any scolding. They just dropped us and left. I and Joe walked to the school, the big giant gate appeared even more giant as we moved ahead. But somehow Joe’s step paused. “Huh?” I raised my brows skeptically. We were getting late, and he stopped there. “Ezra, never tell anyone about your identity,” he said with a serious note. ‘Why?” I never hide my identity in any of the schools I have changed. This was my fifth school and my previous school had mixed-origin fellows. “Even Shasha was Alpha Pharaoh’s daughter and she was my best friend.” “That was a public school, not a Downtown Wisdom School.” His eyes got bigger while speaking about it. “They care about your blood more than your grades and talent. When you are stepping into the school, tell everyone that you are a future Beta of the Dark blood pack.” Joe was sincere, he would never ask me to lie without a reason. At least in school. I nodded my head and we both stepped in. As soon as we entered the school, I found a blond girl running towards us and her mouth was wide open as if she was going to eat us right now. “Goshhhh…” Her scream appeared louder as she came closer. I thought she must be a psych ready to attack us. I immediately hid behind Joe and she hugged him tightly. “Two days were like forever.” She grasped for the breath. Needless to mention, she was Joe’s girlfriend. “She is my… friend… Ezra.” Joe introduced me to her. The forceful smile on her lips and sharp eyes darting at Joe’s hands on my back told me why it was difficult to make friends in Los Angeles. We walked in the canteen as the school had some server issues. What would be worse than waiting in the canteen on the very first day of school? We were asked to wait there for a while. Joe and Jessica were busy chatting. I watched around because I had nothing to do. Suddenly, everything stopped at once and turned still. I turned back as if someone was coming from behind. Every molecule in the air was carrying the smell of his presence. I saw someone coming through the glassy door of the canteen. A loud noise echoed into my ears. What Jessica and Joe were trying to tell me, I could not understand as the words were just passing above my head.
