Jack's gaze swept across the deep crimson stain bleeding into the carpet. His eyelid twitched. A brief flash of unease crossed his face, but it was immediately smothered by annoyance, as if ignoring it could make it disappear. "Natalie, why are you always like this?" he said through gritted teeth, averting his eyes. "I'd still worry if you got hurt. Go treat that wound, wrap it up, and clean this up.
