Chapter 10

Trent

  Luke and I are running to the place Sarah showed us that we would find my mate. We were almost there when I felt shooting pain all over my body, I knew something was happening and it wasn’t good. This kind of pain burned and went right to my heart causing me to shift back into my human form. This is the pain that happens when your mate cheats on you. What were they doing to her? Luke comes next to me when he notices I shifted. 

“What's wrong man, we have to go?”

“Luke, they are hurting her.” He looks at me weird.

“I don’t feel anything.”

“Not that way. They are forcing her to do something. Luke god this burns so bad. I can’t run right now.” I say while rubbing my chest where my heart is. His eyes grow wide as it clicks what was going on. 

“Okay, I got you. Tell me when you're good to run again.” His eyes glow gold and he picks me up bridal style and starts running. This guy loves his royal power way too much but right now I’m grateful for them even if this is weird as hell.

  After a minute or two of Luke running with me in his arms, I feel another pain but this was different, this was someone beating her. Luke stumbles and ends up dropping me making me know he felt it too. 

“f**k they are beating her Trent.” He struggles to get out and he pushes himself up to stand again.

“I know, I can feel it too. Let’s hurry up.” 

“You good to run?” He asks me and I nod and take off with him on my tail with his red eyes scanning the area as we run. 

   We both let out a deafening growl that shook the ground around us. These assholes better run for their lives or else they will suffer at the hands of not just me but Luke too and he is a hundred times worse than I am.

  Once we got there I scanned the area, I saw a guy fighting a woman. They were dishing power stokes back and forth. I look a little more to my left and I see a man holding my mate up against a tree by her neck. She had blood over her, no pants or underwear on, and looked like she was about to pass out any moment.

‘Get to her, NOW! We could lose them!’ My wolf growls at me. I can tell how worried he is, it’s more than he should be. ‘Stop thinking and GO!’ He yells at me this time in his alpha tone.

‘You take the woman I’ll take the dude.’ I mind link Luke and he takes off without replying.

  I hear a woman scream right before I pull the man off Inara. I throw him into a tree a few yards away. I do a quick scan of Inara and can hear her heart is still beating, there’s something different with how it sounds but I can’t think of that right now, I have a man to kill. I turn back to the man to see him getting off the ground and dusting himself off. 

  When he looked at me I almost let my jaw drop open, it was my mate’s father. I turn and look at who the woman is but can’t see her face, Luke and the random guy were having a hard time with her, she had to be powerful to be taking on both at the same time. I shift my eyes back to Max and growl. He just smirks at me. That’s when I notice he is slowly moving closer to the woman and I growled at him again. He stops but his smirk never leaves his face.

‘Something feels off.’ My wolf perks up in full alert now.

‘I know I feel it too.’ I take a step towards him and his smile grows more. What does he have planned? I take another step but slower this time as I watch every part of his body.

“WATCH OUT!” I hear someone yell just before the wind picks up making it hard to breathe. When I was about to pass out the wind stopped and I noticed the random guy was now standing next to me with Luke on his knees trying to catch his breath too. I see a bubble around us stopping the wind and dirt from taking the air from around us.

“Inara.” I coughed out. 

“Look to your left stupid wolf.” The guy answers. I look to my left and see she is lying where she was but we are closer than where we were before. Did this guy move us too? Who the hell is he?

  Soon the wind died down and the bubble went down but Max and the woman were gone. 

‘Border control a man and woman witch will be trying to get out. They have hurt your luna and tried to take her. If you can't stop them, put trackers on them. I want them watched or tracked at all times. They are powerful, be careful.’ I send out in the pack link to the border control teams using my alpha voice letting my wolf’s voice push through also.

  I move next to Inara and put my hand on her cheek but she doesn’t respond to my touch as she should. A coat drapes over her lower half and I look up to see the random guy who was not so random after all, it was Alen. I smile at first till I notice something and jump between him and Inara.

“Who are you?” I growl at him. He rolls his eyes.

“You know who I am stupid wolf.” He waves me off with his hand.

“Alen is human, not a vampire.” I growl out at him. That makes Luke move to my side to protect his sister with me.

“I’m her protector, I just turned of age to feel her.” He said “We can talk about this later. Right now we need to get them back to the pack doctor. We are losing one of them while we stand here.” His words make me freeze for a second. Them?

  I don’t think too much into it, he is probably talking about her wolf and witch. I bend down and pick her up bridal style and run to the pack hospital where three doctors were already waiting for us. I put Inara down on a gurney and they rushed her into surgery. As I waited for them to tell me what’s going on Luke had to stand in front of the door so I didn’t rush in there and go crazy. I heard a chuckle when Luke threw me on my ass yet again, I whipped my head at who laughed at me to see it was Alen.

“Spill.” I growl at him. He is pushing my buttons.

“Right so you know me as Alen Woods. Well, You just don’t know my last, I never told anyone.” He says with a shrug like it was nothing. I stare at him waiting for him to tell me more. “Hi, I’m Alen Woods Paston. Nice to formally you both, Alpha Trent and Prince Luke.” He did a slight bow to Luke but held his hand out to me which I shook.

“Keep going.” I said, more relaxed. The Patson family was a well-known vampire family. They were the rulers of the vampires and were also very powerful. I wonder why he was serving in my restaurant. 

“I didn’t want to be stuck to my parents. If I stayed with them I would have been forced to mate with someone and for some reason, I felt a pull to leave so I did and I met Inara. There was something that told me to stay next to her. I hid my scent so I wouldn’t be found out and dropped my last name.” Ugh, I forgot his family can read minds. I rolled my eyes at him and let out a grunt for him to keep going.

“I turned 24 a few months ago and have been training to control my new powers, that’s why I haven’t been around at all. About a week ago I felt an urge to get back to Inara. My powers were going crazy and my vampire was flipping his head off at me to get back and protect her. I didn’t understand but slowly I did and came rushing back, on the way back I heard she was staying with you and came here. I was going to just wait for you to come to me on your border or call Inara and hide who I was again but I felt her being attacked and sped faster than I ever have to find out that she was about to be kicked in her stomach.” My wolf came forward and growled at that.

“Luke, does this make any sense to you?” I turn to Luke who has been silently standing at the emergency door.

“Yes.” Was all he said. His face however said a lot more.
