Sarah /POV/

Mom and dad, are you guys sure I should go to college?. do you guys have money?. you know nursing college is not easy and I don't want to drop out because you can't afford fees.

Mom: what is your problem dear?. you just go and buy the forms and we will see what we can do.

Dad: yes dear, you go buy it. the MP is here and he will help us. I also learnt that the government has given him money to help the farmers children.

Me: And dad you think he will help?

Dad: yes. am 100% sure dear.

Me: okay dad, as you say so. tomorrow I will go and buy the forms from the bank.

am going to work.

Mom: are you not off today?

Me: no. my off is tomorrow.

yes, I know you will be asking what work I do. am working as a waitress in a hotel. first, I was working as a mobile teller at a bank then I moved from been mobile teller to cashier at a bet company.

now am going to work since am on afternoon shift. been in a low class is not easy.

Today is Friday and is my off day. Am in a bank buying the forms. I waited for 15 minutes before getting the form. Am on my way to fill the form and apply for nursing.

Am home from my destination. And my mom is now cooking but my dad is not home.

Me: mom haven't you finish yet? . am very hungry.

Mom: don't tell me you don't have money with you.

Me: I do but I don't want to use it since am keeping it for my school.

Mom: your dad has already told you he will take care of it, so what is your problem huh?.

Me: and you believe that?.

Mom: yeah, why not.

Me: okay, whatever, hurry up please, I want to eat.

Mom: then come and cook it.

Me: noo. you Know I don't like cooking. you know I will marry a white man one day. and also I will leave Nigeria when the time comes.

Mom: you and the white people. do you really trust those people ?. becareful with them okay.

Me: coming on mom, am not a kid okay. am a grown up girl. I know what I want and what am doing.

Mom: hmmm, as you say so.
