EPISODE 2 — The Diner: The Warning
Warm lights. Soft chatter. The smell of fresh coffee. Their favorite booth — the one they always chose. But Sasha wasn’t here for comfort.
She watched Zion over the top of her menu, calm but focused.
“I need to know something, Zion,” she said.
Zion looked up, startled. “What’s that?”
“Do you still have feelings for Vicky?”
The question hit him like a stone dropped in still water. His face stayed steady. His voice stayed steady. But his heartbeat was sprinting.
“No,” he said quickly. “We’re friends, that’s all. Nothing more.”
Sasha watched him — not accusing, not emotional, just seeing him.
“Okay,” she said softly. “I’ll trust your judgment.”
She leaned forward, her eyes sharp enough to cut glass.
“But if I feel that you are willing to be with her — meaning cheating in any form — I will walk away.”
No threat.
No anger.
Just truth.
Zion swallowed hard. “I told you… you’re the only one for me.”
He reached for her hand, trying to anchor himself, but Sasha felt the tremor in his fingers. And Zion felt the weight of her warning settle into his bones.
Because Sasha didn’t make empty promises. And she didn’t give second chances.
They ordered. The waiter walked away. For a moment, everything felt normal.
Then Zion’s phone buzzed on the table.
Vicky.
His thumb hovered — then he flipped the phone over and shut it off.
Sasha didn’t say a word. She didn’t need to.
Their food arrived. They ate in a silence that wasn’t hostile — just aware.
Zion’s phone vibrated again, this time from his pocket. He froze.
“I’ll be right back… restroom,” he muttered.
He slid out of the booth too fast. Sasha nodded, calm and relaxed in posture — but her eyes followed him. She watched the tension in his shoulders, the way he checked over his shoulder, the way he pushed open the restroom door like he was escaping.
Sasha wasn’t suspicious.
She wasn’t paranoid.
She wasn’t insecure.
She was observant.
Zion stepped into the men’s room and exhaled hard. He pulled out his phone.
One missed call.
Two messages.
Vicky.
He hesitated — then answered.
“Well, I finally saw your wife,” Vicky said, her voice sugary sweet. “She seems… boring.”
Zion clenched his jaw. “What are you doing? I told you not to come around when I’m with her.”
“Oh, come on. I just wanted to play a little. Anyway… are you coming over tonight? I miss you.”
Zion closed his eyes. He knew he shouldn’t. He knew this was wrong. He knew Sasha’s warning was still echoing in his ears.
But temptation has a voice.
And Vicky knew exactly how to use hers.
“Maybe,” he said quietly. “Only if you beg me.”
Vicky giggled. “Oh, I can do that.”
Zion smirked.
And that was the moment he betrayed Sasha — not with his body, but with his intention.
He returned to the table, flustered.
“Umm… work called while I was in the men’s room,” he said. “I have to work late. New client. Huge deal.”
Sasha looked at him — really looked at him — and simply nodded.
The lie was obvious.
The shift was obvious.
But Sasha wasn’t going to chase a truth she already knew.
She would let it play out.
Zion paid quickly — too quickly. “I’ll drop you off at home, okay?”
Sasha nodded again.
The drive was quiet. Not angry. Not tense. Just quiet. The kind of quiet that makes a guilty man sweat.
They pulled into the driveway. Sasha stepped out without a word. She hadn’t spoken since he returned from the restroom.
And that silence?
That was the beginning of the end.
