Welcome to my life. Would you like an invitation? There are childhood bullies, judgmental pricks, and even ones who like to pretend I don't exist. Did I do anything to them? No, I just merely breathed the same air. Does that seem harsh? Well, have a seat inside the war zone of my mind. It's kinda nice for a while if you like unnerving silence and sudden bursts of emotion.
Aside from the emotional turmoil, I physically got all the stitches, paid for the expenses, and then Ulisies picked me up. While the rest of his face is impassive, his eyes said it all. He was pissed. Not at me, but at Psycho Girl. I prefer to call her by her nickname; it's more entertaining that way.
Interesting story, before he found out about girls like Savannah bullying me, he had a massive crush on her. More specifically, he had a crush on Psycho Girl a.k.a. Savannah. Even more interesting? She liked him back. It didn't end up being a cliche as you can see.
He found out about her bullying me. She told me not to tell him. Guess what? I did it anyways. I'm not going to let my brother date some ex-best friend Chihuahua who likes to put on a show. That made her hate me even more. Along with the fact that my existence irks her. When I told him, he was devastated. While I hated to be the messenger, I'd rather him be with someone that is a good person and not someone who is good at acting like one.
I look at Ulisies and immediately hold my palm up. He puffs his cheeks and goes to whine when I say, "Please Uli. I'm in a lot more pain than I want to admit. I just want to go home and eat food." He sighs and wraps one arm around me.
Ulisies puts my motorcycle, backpack, and helmet in the back of his truck. I look at my motorcycle in sadness.
He chuckles, "Yeah, it looks like you won't be going on any rides anytime soon Na-Na."
I glare at him and say, "No, I was totally going to ride my bike with all of these injuries."
He laughs, "You injure me with your words. Besides, knowing you I wouldn't be surprised. Also, your sarcasm is not doing anyone any good. The fact remains little sis."
Instead of replying, I open the door to the truck and Uli helps me in. I'm not exactly without painful injuries that hinder my normal everyday abilities.
As Ulisies pulls in to the driveway, I notice that everyone is here. Maverick, Nova, Kai, and Dad. All of their cars are here. I'm more surprised about that than anything else. It's not that they don't love me, I'm genuinely shocked since they all have things going on.
I look at Uli and he says, "I called them. I know you aren't dying, but if you know anything about this family, you know they are more protective over you than anything else."
I just smile and shake my head. I might be an insecure little girl half the time, but at the end of the day, my family truly loves and cares about me.
"Na-Na! Are you okay? Wait, no. That was a stupid question. You're obviously not okay. Are you hungry? Ugh, another dumb question. You're always hungry-", I interrupt Nova before he continues to ramble,"Nova! Hush. I appreciate your concern but I'd rather you not run out of air with all of that rambling you're doing."
He mumbles and everyone else laughs. Kai says,"Cat got your tongue Nova?"
Nova glares at Kai and we end up all laughing once again.
Maverick interrupts the laughter, "Do you mind if we bring this party inside?"
I look up at him and nod my head. Dad starts, "So, what's the story?"
I sigh and explain what happened once again.
Nova says, "You're going to press charges right?"
I look at Nova and reply, "No." Nova goes to protest when I say, "She's going to a mental health hospital. If that isn't a punishment enough, I don't know what is."
Kai smiles, "You always were the forgiving one."
I reply, "No, not really. But pressing charges isn't going to do anything. Sure, she'll have it on her record. However, when she gets out, she'll already be suffering mentally. I couldn't be more happy with her consequences. I know it sounds harsh, but with all of the years of bullying she put me through, it seems like justice to me."
Maverick smiles, "I'm proud of you Squirt."
I question, "Why's that?"
"Because, you weren't stupid. You knew if you had lifted a finger, you would've been blamed. As frustrating as it is, you have to suffer more in this town than anyone else. Hell, you even lost your job. It doesn't matter that it wasn't your fault. You were the victim here and you're still paying for it; literally. That's not to say that you wouldn't have kicked her ass if given the choice," replies Maverick.
My mom says, "Maverick! Language!"
Dad chuckles, "He isn't the only one in this household that uses profanity Avalon." Mom's face grows beet red all the way down her neck. It is definitely live entertainment.
It's evening now. It's been an exceptionally long day. On the other side of it, now I don't need to worry about taking off work for the competition thing. Yes, I'm actually going. The competition lasts for the rest of the summer. Looks like I'll be packing my whole life into a suitcase or two. Sadly, not my bike.
