He continued to sob silently. What if he was there when the accident happened? What if he had died with them? What if he had been able to save them?
In the silence of his room, Noah whispered a final goodbye to his parents, his voice barely audible over the sound of his own heartbeat. He knew he'd carry them with him always, in his heart and in his memories. But for now, the pain of their loss was all consuming.
After the loss of his parents, Noah knew he couldn't afford to take care of himself. The weight of their absence was crushing and the financial struggles that came with it seemed too great to overcome. He made a decision to leave his family home and move in with his friend, Alex.
Alex's apartment was different from the comfortable house Noah grew up in, but it was a better option compared to him staying at his house. The two friends had been inseparable since childhood. Noah had always been there for Alex. Now, it was Noah's turn to lean on him for support. As they settled into their new routine, Noah struggled to come to terms with his new reality. He missed his parents dearly and the pain of their loss still felt like an open wound. Alex did his best to support him but Noah knew that nothing could change what had already happened.
One day, as they were searching through the fridge for something to eat, Alex turned to Noah with a mischievous spark in his eye. "Hey, man, I've been thinking. We could make some real money if we started taking things from people." Noah was shocked. He had never been in trouble with the law before, and the thought of stealing made him uncomfortable. But as he looked around the small apartment, he knew that maybe, just maybe, it was worth considering...
Over the next few weeks, Noah and Alex started small....taking things from people in the neighborhood. It was just small stuff – food, clothes, and household items, at first. Later on, as soon as they gained confidence, they started targeting bigger scores. Noah knew it was wrong but he felt like he had no other choice. He was desperate to survive and if that meant bending the rules, so be it.
One day, Alex came to him with a new plan. "Hey, man, I've been thinking. We could hit a big score if we go higher. "
"What do you mean?" Noah asked.
"I mean, let's aim at the billionaire's mansion on Allen Avenue."
"Is there a billionaire in that area? Who's he??"
"I don't know. All I know is that they're always loaded, and they wouldn't even notice if something is missing."
Noah hesitated, his conscience screaming at him to say no. But Alex's enthusiasm was infectious, and eventually, he agreed to go along with the plan on the condition that it would be his last and he was no longer interested.

Noah's heart pounded in his chest as he and Alex snuck into the mansion. After successfully avoiding the security guards and the security camera, they had finally located the stash of money and their plan was about to pay off. As they reached for the cash, Noah heard a loud noise behind him. He turned to see a guard standing in the doorway, his eyes wide with surprise. His anxiety spiked. This was it – they were either going to get away killed or get caught.
The guard started shooting at them while trying to alert the others. Noah felt a sharp pain in his side. He realized he had been shot. He stumbled backward, clutching his wound. Alex grabbed his arm, pulling him toward the exit.
"Run, Noah, run!" Alex yelled.
Noah stumbled out of the mansion... His vision was blurred. He could feel the warmth spreading down his side, and his legs felt like jelly. He managed to keep moving, driven by adrenaline and desperation.
As he stumbled through the streets, Noah's world began to spin. He knew he needed medical attention and fast. With an extraordinary effort, he made his way to the hospital and collapsed on the emergency room floor.

The next thing Noah knew, he was waking up in a hospital bed, his side throbbing with pain. He looked around trying to piece together what had happened. A nurse came in, smiling softly.
"Welcome back, Noah. You're going to be okay."
Noah's memories came flooding back – the heist, the guard, the pain. He looked down at his side, seeing the bandages and tubes attached to his body.
"Alex?" he croaked. His voice hoarse from the hospital tube.
The nurse's expression softened. "I'm sorry, Noah. Your friend didn't stay with you. He left already."
His heart sank. Alex had left him to fend for himself... just when he needed him most. The realization hurt deeply and Noah knew he had a long road ahead of him – to recover, to face the consequences of his actions, and to find a new path in life.
