The party planning went rather quickly, considering it was utterly and completely boring for me. Penny was in her element though, directing the decorations. That the drapes should hang on that wall and not this one, the bar should be set up in that corner because it’s closer to get too. The food would need to be a 5 course sit down dinner with a buffet later on, the tables laid out in a particular way with Marc taking pride of place at the top. It was almost closer to a wedding than a ball. I just sat in a corner and wrote peoples name on the little card tents, but I was quickly dismissed from that because I ‘wasn’t writing them properly’, I was demoted to helping to hang the drapes and flowers. Penny was busy directing me about the drape hanging too low when she was called away to deal with an urgent matter regarding the colour of the napkins. I took a minute of peace to appreciate all she was doing; despite our surroundings she was enjoying herself.
Cora?
I nearly fell off my ladder when Harrison came through the link. An omega sent to help me panicked thinking I was going to fall. I assured them I was alright, just needed some air and headed outside to enjoy the sun for a moment.
Cora?
Yes, I’m here. Sorry you startled me.
I hope I’m not interrupting anything.
Just Penny the Party Planner in full swing, you’ve probably saved me actually.
Haha, you can’t stop her once she gets going. But what’s this party?
Ah yes you don’t know. Penny found out that Marc was planning on hosting a ball, in celebration of our two packs alliance and he’s invited high ranking members for most of the other packs. And apparently a few members of the Guild.
When did he have time to get all that together?
He’s been planning it for a while and accepted our request under his own means as well. Seems it was all perfect timing, the attack on our pack and the fugitive running through Marc’s territory, I feel that it was all planned.
Seems like quite a leap you’ve made Cora, are you sure you aren’t just reading more into events?
I don’t trust coincidences, and a recent resurgence from the past makes me think there’s more going on here than we think.
Oh? Carlos asked earlier about our chat this morning, something about checking your progress.
Sorry about that, I had a momentary freeze and I used you as an excuse.
It’s nice to know I’m the first thing on your mind Cora. Oh, he was teasing now.
You’re always my first thought Harrison. s**t, I didn’t mean that to come across as lovey as it did.
And you’re mine. I ‘felt’ him squeeze my hand. What happened that I was an excuse for anyway?
We met Marcs’ Beta and Gamma.
I know Anthony is his Beta, who’s his Gamma?
I stuttered, struggling to find my words again.
Cora. Who is his Gamma?
Crap here goes. Iain.
Silence.
Harrison?
Silence. Oh, this is not good. I felt someone else tug at the link, Carlos.
Cora! Is everything alright?
Yes, why wouldn’t it be?
I just felt this thunder through me, it came from Harrison.
It’s fine, I’m dealing with it.
Dealing with what?
If you have a moment would you go find Penny, please, she’ll explain.
And Carlos was gone.
Harrison, I think you scared Carlos.
Go to your room. Now. I’d never heard Harrison so demandingly strict. I didn’t question and went to my room, I was surprised to find the door open and Lyam, Penny and Carlos already there.
“What are you all doing here?” I asked as I shut the door behind me.
“Harrison asked us here.” Carlos answered, he seemed a mixture of fury and wounded. It seemed Penny had filled him in, and by Lyam’s piteous look he knew as well.
Bring me through.
That’s easier said than done Harrison.
Bring me through. Now. He was really pissed.
“Can you all take a step back? I’ve not done this many times, and don’t want any of you getting caught in the crossfire.” Lyam looked perplexed as his mother pulled him by his arm to a corner, Carlos and Penny knew I had transportation powers, but they had never seen me do this before. I focused my mind on Harrison and held my hand out for him. I ‘felt’ him grasp it his side, I took a deep breath in and on the release, I pulled him through to us.
“By the Goddess…” Lyam was in awe as white lights started appearing in front of me, first in a flurry before settling in the shape of a body, Harrisons features started appearing as if a ghost before him. “Did you know she could do that? I didn’t know she could do that!” He started babbling excitedly.
“Shh Lyam. She needs to focus to bring him through in one piece, otherwise we may end up with hundreds of little parts of an Alpha.” Penny hissed under her breath at him.
I held my thoughts; I really didn’t want to pull him apart. Any other time I’ve done this was in a great deal of emotion, I never had to focus on moving someone through space. The lights settled further, and one foot was clearly through followed by the leg, and the other leg. His torso started coming through and sprouted two arms. The fire crackled suddenly, and I lost my concentration losing both arms again. Penny through her hand out and a torrent of water went gushing towards the fire and put it out. I closed my eyes; I could feel the sweat dripping down my face and my blood pressure rising, a streak of blood dripped down from my nose. This was putting an immense amount of pressure on my body, and I wasn’t sure if I could do it. The arms regained their shape and had entwined themselves with mine as I dug deep to the very core of my being.
Breathe. I heard Cora in my mind. You can do it Cassie, just breathe.
With a final blinding effort, I opened my eyes to see the last of Harrison made its way through until he was standing in the room with us. Penny let out a small cheer but all I was paying attention to was Harrison. Was he mad? Was he injured? What was he --- My thoughts stopped as he pulled me close to him and kissed me with a fire, I had never known him to possess. His hand on the small of my back kept me against his body, the other against my neck holding my face to his. A small polite cough from Carlos broke the moment as Harrison released his lips from mine.
“You are now and will forever be mine.” I hadn’t got my strength back yet, from either the transportation or the kiss. He stroked my hair back behind my ear. “Am I understood?” He asked with a devious smile. “Mine.” He planted a soft kiss on my nose, and I giggled.
“I feel like we should leave.” Lyam stated a little louder than he thought. My cheeks flushed as I realised there was witnesses to our tender moment, of course it was the first time they had ever seen us act like we loved each other so openly.
“Sorry you had to see that; I just think it was important for Cora to know how important she is to me.” Harrison hadn’t taken his eyes off me. “And who she belongs to.” A cheeky glint in his eye made me wish there was no one else in the room, I knew it wasn’t possessive, like it was with Iain. This was a man who knew what he wanted, and that no one would take it from him.
“I for one, am so very glad we can drop the pretence.” Penny seemed so proud, I looked to see her almost in tears about the whole thing. “At least amongst friends.”
“I called you all here as it’s best to discuss what we are going to do together, and before I officially arrive.” Harrison kept his hand on my back as he gestured for everyone to take a seat on the sofas. I went to take a step when I realised how little strength I still had left. Harrison didn’t lose a step and simply lifted me with one arm up and over the sofa. Carlos had brought over a cup of water which I sipped on and noticed my throat was incredibly dry. It had really taken a lot out of me.
“That… was… impressive.” Lyam slapped my back congratulatory and I winced. “Oh sorry.” He flinched away, probably more fearing his mother hitting him than his Alpha.
“It’s fine. It just takes a lot out of me to do that apparently.”
“Where did you learn to do it?” Lyam had again chosen not to sit on the furniture and perched himself on the floor.
“I always could in a way. When I was younger it was little things like a cake from the kitchen, or a drink from across the room. As I got older, I noticed I could move myself as well, only short distances. From one end of a room to the other for example. I figured if I could move myself to other places and move items to me then I could in theory move other people too. Penny helped me to control a bit better, but this is the first time I’ve managed to pull someone through completely and solely.” I egged the last part as I had managed to pull Harrison through before but not without some prior encouragement and I was not about to tell that to them all.
“I’m very glad to be your guinea pig.” Harrison had taken a seat next to me and had his arm around me again. It wasn’t as awkward as I thought to be so open in front of them all, he smiled sweetly at me before turning his attention to the matter at hand. “I believe that Penny has filled everyone in on the situation and let me apologise personally for not divulging this information before, it was not my place to tell any of you, but I am glad that Cora confided in you Penny.”
“We understand why Harrison. From both of you.” Carlos reassured. “And I’m sorry that we’ve all had to find out this way.”
“I’m grateful that you knew Harrison, it was a comfort to know she hadn’t held this secret on her own for so long.” Penny seemed to have come around quickly, I had hoped she would, and I was grateful to have such loyal friends.
“To business then.” Harrison sat forward. “How do we go about killing Iain?”
