My dad was not a perfect man, nor a perfect husband. Mum says dad is a bad husband, right before she proclaims him as the love of her life.
I didn’t think dad was a bad husband, he tried his best for us but he and mum made a truly awful couple. I didn’t doubt that they loved each other dearly. Its just that their marriage was like being addicted to cocaine. No matter the high it brings for a while, the havoc it wreaks was longer lasting and extensive. My parents’ marriage is like that. They loved each other, that much I don’t doubt but without a doubt, those two brought out the absolute worst out in each other.
