Hug

Inside the room, Daniel made Rose sit on the bed and said firmly, “You don’t need to step out of this room. If you need anything, you can tell me. There’s no reason for you to wander around. Got it?” Rose only nodded her small head twice and hugged her teddy tightly to her chest. Once again Daniel’s eyes fell on the teddy, and his gaze instantly sharpened. In his dark voice, he said, “I’ll have something sent up for you to eat in a while. I’ll be working in the study room. If you need me, just press this button and I’ll come.” He extended a small gadget towards her. Rose again just nodded in response. Seeing that, Daniel’s tone hardened. “I need answers in words, damn it!” Startled, Rose stammered softly, “Ye-yes.” Daniel glared at her. “Good girl. Next time, answer like this—or else…” He left the threat unfinished. Rose lowered her head in silence. Daniel then walked out of the room. A little while later, a maid walked in carrying a breakfast tray. She placed it in front of Rose and said, “Here you go, miss. Please have your breakfast.” Rose glanced at the food once, then turned her face away. Confused, the maid asked, “What happened? Don’t you like it?” Rose shook her head in refusal. Hesitantly, the maid tried again. “Then what do you like? Tell me, I’ll make it for you.” Rose remained silent. The maid pressed on, “Madam, please tell me. I’ve been ordered to make sure you eat something. If you don’t, I’ll get into trouble. Please, at least tell me what you prefer.” But Rose still said nothing. The maid’s patience finally snapped. “Look, I’ve been working in this house for the past ten years. You just arrived here. Don’t think you can show me these tantrums. If it wasn’t the boss’s order, I wouldn’t even bother bringing you this! Eat it if you want. If not, leave it. I have plenty of other work to do.” With that, she stormed out with the tray. Rose simply lowered her small head further as she watched her leave. --- About half an hour later… In the study, Daniel was on a call, his voice ice-cold. “I don’t want any lame excuses… I want only results, you bloody s**t!” On the other side, a nervous voice stammered, “O-okay, sir. We’ll find out about her soon and report back.” Daniel ended the call, lit a cigar, and took long drags until the entire room filled with smoke. Just then, the door opened. A tall, stunningly attractive girl walked in, her high heels clicking against the floor, her short dress hugging her figure. Daniel continued smoking, expressionless. The girl smiled, came up behind him, and wrapped her arms around him. “Baby, I missed you so much. You know what? If modeling wasn’t my career, I would never leave you alone like this for months. I really love you! But you didn’t call or text me once. Did you not miss me at all?” She moved in front of him, still smiling. Daniel remained silent, smoking.
