Stop crying

491 Words
Daniel’s gaze was fixed downward. The sound of someone crying had reached him. A girl was sobbing uncontrollably somewhere nearby. Daniel clenched his fists, stared for a few seconds, and then, in his cold, steady voice, said, “Stop crying and come out here, wherever you are.” The moment his deep voice echoed, the crying abruptly stopped. Hearing nothing, a sly smile crept across Daniel’s face. He slipped his hands back into his pants pockets and said without any emotion, “Good girl! Now come out quietly.” But no one appeared. No sound came from anywhere. Two long minutes passed, yet nothing. Daniel’s tone turned colder. “Didn’t you hear me the first time? I said come out. Death is waiting for you. I’ll burn you along with your father. Step out!” Hearing this, the girl’s cries erupted again. Irritated by the sound, Daniel snapped, “What’s your problem? When I say come out, do you not understand? I don’t have the time to waste on the daughter of a deceitful woman like you. So come out quietly.” Still, the girl continued crying. Daniel gritted his teeth and advanced toward the bed. “Won’t you obey? Don’t you know that annoying Daniel Wilson always pays the price with death? And now, no one can save you from dying.” With that, Daniel marched toward the bed, seething with anger. But when he reached it, the bed was empty. Seeing this, Daniel’s expression darkened further. He chuckled. “Oh, wanna play, baby girl? So you’re playing hide and seek with me? Not bad…! I’m a champion at this game too!” He began circling the bed. The girl’s cries had stopped again. Scanning around, his eyes finally fell under the bed. His smile deepened, and in his dark, menacing voice, he said, “Looks like you’re about to lose this hide-and-seek game… because soon, you’ll be in my grasp.” He lunged downward, reaching under. Suddenly, the girl screamed, “Ahhh…!” A darker smile spread across Daniel’s face as he laughed. “Your daddy is gone from this world, baby. But no worries—I’ll send you to him too.” As he reached further, his hand touched something soft. It was so delicate that Daniel gripped it tightly, making the girl scream again. His smile widened further. Pulling her out from under the bed, he said, “I warned you not to frustrate me. But you didn’t listen. Now, you’ll have to endure all of this, baby girl.” The girl emerged, immediately covering her tiny face with both hands, sobbing quietly. Daniel stared at her for a second. In her small hand was a tiny teddy bear, now grimy. She wore a red frock, and her knees bore scratches. Her curly hair spilled down her back. Her face was pale, but hidden behind her hands. She sobbed silently, and Daniel’s gaze remained fixed on her.
