After a few seconds, he grabbed her hands away from her face, saying angrily, “Stop crying! Soon, I’ll send you to your father. Then you can cry all you want—right there.”
With her hands removed, her face came into view. Daniel froze for a moment. Her face was like the petals of a rose—beautiful, delicate. Her small lips trembled with fear. Her large, blue, tear-filled eyes stared at him.
For two seconds, silence fell around them.
Then, a voice interrupted from behind: “Boss, the big boss is calling. They want us at the palace immediately. That man has already turned to ashes. Are you really going to burn this girl too?”
Daniel snapped back to reality, looking down at the girl. “Earlier, that was my intention. But now… my intention has changed.”
A smirk appeared on his face. The assistant, standing behind, looked confused. “Boss… I don’t understand. What are you doing with this girl? You said you’d burn her, and now… she’s willingly going with you? Didn’t she even care about her father? How is this possible?”
Daniel bent down, touching the girl’s plump, soft cheeks with his cold hands. “You know what? You’re really soft… like a rose. Are you missing your daddy? Do you want to go to him?”
Rose looked up at him with trembling eyes, then lowered her head slightly and whispered, “N…no, uncle! Rose doesn’t want to go to him.”
Hearing this, Daniel’s smile turned sly. He held her hand tightly. “Good girl! So… you want to stay with your uncle?”
Rose lifted her small face and stared timidly into his eyes. After a few seconds, she nodded and softly said, “Yes… Rose will stay with uncle.”
Daniel held Rose’s wrist and began leading her toward the car. The guards watched, astonished.
One of them blurted, “Sir, what are you doing? Where are you taking her? You said you’d burn her… and now she’s willingly going with you? And she didn’t even care about her dad? How is this possible?”
Daniel’s piercing gaze silenced the guard instantly. Head down, the guard followed silently as Daniel walked toward the car with Rose.
The guard whispered to himself, “This girl is strange… how is she willingly going with a stranger? And the boss… taking a child with him? Something’s off. Maybe he wants to torment her first… and then… I shouldn’t think too much.”
Why didn’t Daniel kill her? Why did Rose agree to stay with him? What secret lies behind all this?
