The voice came again:
“Mother…”
It echoed against the stone like a distant heartbeat. I froze, heart pounding, fingers hovering inches from the carved face of my daughter.
Moonlight streaming in from the crack above flickered, illuminating the statue’s icy eyes—eyes that suddenly glimmered with life.
I stepped forward. “Liana?”
The cavern felt alive—breathing, waiting. I swallowed, every nerve screaming.
Then the statue’s hand moved.
A slow, deliberate gesture toward me.
“Kalen,” I whispered, voice trembling. “She’s alive… here.”
He stepped beside me. Torchlight trembled across his drawn features. Valya and Daemon followed, their gazes tight on me.
I took a careful step forward and felt the floor shudder.
The statue shifted too—revealing a hidden chamber behind it.
