Chapter 8Harland watched Jameson through the hallway window. Whatever he’d learned on the phone, it wasn’t good news, and frustration was clawing at him. He needed to go out there, needed to know what was going on, but Jameson made no effort to get up and come back inside. And why would he? It was a lovely summer day, and Harland would also lie on the jetty and listen to the sounds of the lake if he was able to. He hated being a vampire. He liked his strength and his speed, but it was a poor substitute for never being able to sense the sun on his skin again. Or he could sense it, had sensed it.
