Chapter two

1147 Words
Bianca Two hours later I held my mother’s lifeless body in my hands, still rocking her body back and forth even though I knew she was already dead. All I needed was just for a miracle to happen “please” I whispered “please wake up” I said again, feeling the light weight of a stray tear rolling down my cheeks. I had no one to call for help, I knew nothing about funeral rites and I wasn’t sure of my next move. I continued rocking her body, my palms had grown accustomed to the sticky blood and my nose was now used to the metallic smell of blood even though it had only been a short period of time. I placed my head on the kitchen cabinet, it would take me a lot of time to come to terms with my mum’s death and a lot more time to abandon this apartment that holds so much memory of the both of us. Whatever killed my mum could be after me, but I don’t care, I don’t care because I have no one else to be by my side so it is okay if they come after me too. I felt my eyes itch from all the tears that I had shed, so I closed them slowly and steadily drifting off to sleep while my mother rests peacefully in my arms. A dull ache pounded at the back of my skull. My limbs felt heavy, sluggish like they weren’t my own. The last thing I remembered was… Mom. My stomach twisted, panic clawing at my chest. But before I could move, I felt motion. I wasn’t walking, yet my body shifted and was in rhythm with something. I forced my eyes open, I was in a dark vehicle. I could barely see what was happening outside. I was wedged between two men, their broad shoulders pressing against mine. My wrists are bound. My throat is dry, scratchy and a little bit of water would do right now. “Ouch…” I croaked, my head pounded heavily. “She is awake” a deep groggy voice muttered beside me, making me more aware of the proximity of our bodies.“Wh….” I tried to speak but I could feel the hoarseness of my voice “wh… where am I?” I asked. The man at the front passenger’s seat looked at me and snorted “Look at how skinny she is” The other one chuckled “We need to take her to the boss before the drugs wears off completely” Drugs? My eye widened in realization, that was why I felt so weak. They had drugged me and now they are taking me to God knows where. My palms clenched in a fist, while I bit the inside of my cheeks.“She is trying to fight it..” one of the men besides me grunted while the one in front looked at me in amusement. “Maybe she thinks she would be able to fight all four of us off….” He said again assessing my body with a little tinge of amusement in his eyes.“Well, I am not willing to take any chances…” the one with the deep groggy voice said again. What chances was this man talking about? Before I could react, darkness crashed over me again. “I thought you’d never wake up” I blinked, my vision gradually adjusting to the dim light illuminating in the room. The room smelt like luxury, the rich scent of male cologne enveloped my nostrils. I tilted my head to look at where the voice had come from “I was beginning to think my boys had overdosed you” he said again groggily. I tried to lift myself from the soft mattress but my head became foggy “please, where am I?” I asked. The man stared at me, assessing my features as he poured himself a glass of whatever alcohol was in the bottle “my house” he said curtly. My brows went up distinctively “your house?” I asked slowly “why did you bring me here? Please let me go, I need to go back” I pleaded. He burst into a bubble of laughter “this will be your new home…” he paused as if he had just remembered something, his long fingers taps on the glass “well, until we send you off to your husband” I feel my eyes widened at the words he had just spewed, what is he talking about “husband?” “Yes”, he replied again curtly not sparing me a glance.I tried to lift my body from the soft mattress again but it seemed like my body had being tied to it “don’t fight it, Bianca. It will take time for the drugs to wear off completely” he smirked.I hesitantly gave up, “who are you?” My voice hoarse as I gradually gave up the idea of pleading with this man to let me free. “You won’t believe this” he said, dropping the glass cup on the wooden table. “I am your father and you have a twin”. Silence, more silence. I feel my eyes reacting to the new information, blinking rapidly and out of control. I am sure that I must have misheard him, my father had died in an accident before I was born. So, there is no way this man right here is my dad.“What are you saying? I don’t have a twin and you’re not my father” I said defiantly. His lips spread in a wide smile “but I am your father and you have a twin” “You are lying” I whispered, my voice barely audible. He leaned back on the chair, watching me with so much amusement “I wonder what your mother had fed you with all these while.” “Is that why you killed her?” I asked, I had not thought about it before now but this man appearing just immediately after my mum’s death just proves one thing. He killed my mother. He let out a small chuckle “she killed herself, trying to fight with me and denying me of seeing my daughter. Do you know how long I have been fighting custody?” He asked resting on the chair loosely.“I don’t believe you” I said, I feel my energy gradually coming back to me.He sighed, and then stood up “you’ll believe soon enough, those are pictures and documents of your birth with your twin.” He pointed to the dresser beside the bed. “What is your name?” I asked barely hearing myself speak. “Diego” he responded.
