CHAPTER 27

— Isaac —

Jenny confessed to me before that she liked me, growing up she looked up on me. I saw that already but I never see her the way I look at Anika. Jenny was like a little sister to me, Jake knew everything about that since I kept no secret from him, I told him so. Good thing Jake is a matured one, I made him understand that I don’t see Jenny as the bearer of my children.

I was confused when I saw Anika pointing the gun to Jenny. I don’t want to judged her at that moment but I knew I’m in trouble if she knows I’m investigating everything about her beyond her knowledge.

Anger filled in Anika’s eyes looking at Jenny, this woman is really guided by her instincts. I knew she was right she can’t trust her, she need not to but she needs to trust me.

I tried to alibi that Jenny needs to replace Casper in the group but she don’t buy it. She don’t want to accept her in the group, she’s becoming immature and she shouted at me so I lost my patience and raise my voice at her. That action was my most regrettable move so far with it comes to her, I can’t bear seeing her crying and that tears was all because of me. I rub my temple and sit on the couch when she left the room.

I notice the big brown envelope on the side of the couch, I carried it and pictures suddenly fall into the floor. I pick all of them and saw it was our pictures at Maldives, Anika might have printed it for her paintings. I smiled of the thought that she only wants to paint our pictures. I was busy looking at all the photos when Blake suddenly enter the room panting.

“Boss, Anika left the house...alone” Blake said in every breath.

“What? How can you let that happened” I said shouting at them. Blake looks at the floor didn’t want our eyes to meet. I swear I’m going to punish these bastards if anything bad happens to her.

I walk run outside while everyone is going inside the car.

“I’ll go ahead, look on the east part I told buck to followed her already. I’ll call you if I see her, I better see her first before you do, maybe I need to talk to her first before you.” Jake said, I can’t let her be on the road alone, knowing everyone is after her. It only takes a weeks before every mafia leaders knows that Anika is with me.

Jake’s phone suddenly rings.

“It was Buck” He said before answering the phone turning on the loudspeaker

“I lost her man, she drives too fast” Buck said on the other line.

“She’s a car racer dumb ass” I shouted at him.

I walk into the car parked on the side to look for Anika myself before any enemies does. I drive fast followed by four more cars behind me. We were divided until I saw one car only following me. I drive fast chasing every green lights not minding the cars beeping because of my speed, I have to see her now. Before I go insane, this is the first time I’m bursting into panic not knowing where she is. This is all my fault, if I just made my patience longer since I can’t tell her I’m investigating about her. I remember her phone, I put a tracker on her phone, too dumb to remember it just now. I still drive fast while checking on my phone locating Anika. She was at the bridge near Santorini.

“Dumb” I uttered because I was heading far away from her. I called Jake to get here since he‘s the nearest.

“Isaac” Jake said on the other line

“She is at the bridge near Santorini” I said while gripping the steering wheel. I don’t even know if the car behind me can still follow. 

“Copy” He said then hang up the phone.

After ten minutes Jake called again saying she’s safe and fine, but not to well. He added she cried.

I was near the bridge when I saw the the car. She was sitting in front staring at the sunset. I was once again mesmerized by her beauty, the sunset was nothing compared to her dazzling face even with swollen eyes. She was focus on the sunset that she didn’t noticed me.

“Love” I said to get her attention

She look at me with hurt in her eyes, and I can’t bear to see that.

“Can I have alone time” She said and then look away. It's the first time I saw her eyes swollen and it’s because of me.

“We need to talk love.” I know I’m selfish not giving her some time alone, but I can’t go home without her on my arms.

Since she didn’t respond, I guessed silence means yes.

“Don’t come near me” She said without looking at me when I’m about to hop beside her. I just rub my temple and inhaled to control myself. I don’t want to start another fight with her.

“You love, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean what I’ve done a while ago but you can’t blame me, you shouted at me without hearing what I have to say.” I said that makes her glare at me. That start was not a good one, I said to myself.

“I get her for the sake of this group, just like what I said, she’ll replace Casper, she’ll be beneficial to the group.” I said in a calm tone.

“And I’m not? That's why my opinion doesn’t matter?” She asked, my heart is pinched knowing I’m making her feel that way.

“Love, this is if for the benefit of our family. Please try to understand.” I can’t think of other way to please her since I know I’m hiding something.

“I will not benefit in her presence, but she will with your presence.” She said still insisting her point.

I hold her hands and look straight in her eyes, this will go nowhere if I will not come up with a resolution.

“A relationship without trust is like a phone without service, you just play games on it, and you know me, I don’t play games when it comes to you. So I need you to trust on me with this. I know where your anger is coming from, yes she said she loved me before but I rejected her from that moment because she’s just like a sister to me. If you don’t trust her, then trust me. Your trust on me is very important love.” I said and then lean my head on her head. Our lips is so near but I control myself not to kiss those red lips because it's not a good time to do that.

We stood there for god knows how many minutes, knowing Anika she will not just guard down if she’s not convince, and she’s the most difficult person to convince, I will bet on that.

“She stop coming to the mansion and you stop coming near her, I don’t know how you will do that but you have too because that’s my only condition for me to stay and trust you. Woman don’t just let go of their feelings, and I swear I’m going to kill her if she intervene in our relationship. What’s mine is mine.” Anika said that makes me smile from ear to ear. I know it's not the right time for this but this is the first time Anika claimed me, the first time she get jealous and I felt kept and important.

“You’re giving me a heartache” I said smiling at her. Her words still echoing my mind and I just found myself kissing her, passionately. Reminding her that she needs to trust me. I will protect her with all my life.

I heard a cheer around us that makes me pull away from her, I noticed there was a small crowd forming watching us kissing. I look at Anika and smile gently.

“Can I took my queen home?” I offer my hand as a sign that we’re okay.

“I’ll drive” I said chasing her.

“But how about your car?” She asked looking at me. I just wink and look at my car, Blake was standing beside and with one look i knew she understand what I mean, to drive my car.

I open the passenger door for Anika, and helped her hop inside. While I walk into the passenger door. I start the engine and drive back to the mansion, I knew everyone is already at ease because my anger subside.

I knew she will get mad at me if she knew I’m doing a research behind her back but this is the only thing I knew to make her safe, to know my enemies. I will do anything to protect her.

I pressed her stirring wheel and look at Anika who smiled at me when he caught I was looking at her. I hold her hands and kissed it gently.

“The ring suits you my queen.” I said that makes her smiled sweetly.
