CHAPTER 31

— Anika —

I felt the old me has awaken again ready to save lives. It felt amazing to be back at the hospital, it might not be the hospital where I’ve learned to love but at least it was a hospital where I can used my god given hands again.

“Thank you for the warmth welcome doctors” I said as I walk into the empty swivel chair next to right side of Mr. Tan. Blake pull the chair for me.

“You’re arrival was on time because the board is about to discuss some changes in the hospital and after that, you will meet the surgeon team.” Mr. Tan said who was seated on the center indicating that he is the head of the board members.

One thing caught my attention in this room. I’m the only female doctor. Isaac is really powerful for this hospital to allow me enter considering I’m a woman. I will take this opportunity to prove them I meet their standard, higher than their standards actually.

After an hour or two of exchanging ideas and suggestions I felt like I owned the company because of my ideas. Gladly my knowledge are still fresh and I’m ready to revive those ideas in me who slept for months because Isaac locked me on his mansion.

We are on our way to the doctor’s office still followed by my three goons.

“Since you don’t want special treatment, I assume you want interaction with the other teams so I will put you on the surgeon’s quarter.” Mr. Tan said as he open the door for me.

The looks like an office with separate tables for every doctor. I spot my name in a desk so I assume that will be my desk.  

“I’m pretty sure this table belongs to me.” I said as I seat on the swivel chair.

Doctor’s started walking inside the room. I guess these are all surgeon’s.

“Can I have the attention of everyone.” Mr. Tan said

“This is Dr. Anika Scott” When my name rolled out by Mr. Tan the doctor’s started to murmur but excitement flash their eyes.

“Yes, she is the famous young doctor from America, she will part of our team.” Mr. Tan continued, now smile are all over their faces which I felt proud because somehow my name still brings gladness to others.

“I know we will learn from her and let’s also try to share our knowledges with her. Let’s make a great team.” Mr. Tan added.

“I guess you’re completely settled now, all the patients data are already here in your table. If you need anything you can just call me. One of the admin staff will get you number for hospital emergency purposes.” Mr. Tan said before he bid adieu then leaves the room.

As soon as he left the doctor’s come around me started expressing their gratitude and excitement of my presence.

“I can’t believe, the great Dr. Anika will be here in our office.” One female doctor said, which I returned with a smile that reaches my ears.

“Dr. Anika I can’t wait to be with you in the operating room, I’m new here and being with you team gives me an edge to my batch mates.” I male doctor said who really looks like a new comer with the way he wear his coat.

“Enough with the complements, I’m also glad I was here with you, I am willing to share my experiences with you and don’t hesitate to raise you suggestions or correct me if ever I made mistakes.” I said as I sit on the swivel chair while Buck stands on my back.

They all return to their desk and started doing paper works, while I scan all the files and of our patient’s for surgery.

“You can stay outside for some rest, I’ll be fine here” I said to Buck before I open one patient’s data. He looked at me for a while before he walks outside.

I sigh in relief, finally no one is watching from my back. I started checking the patient’s file and rank them for those who needs the operation urgently.

From 10 patient’s down to 1 last file who needs operation this week, I’m almost done when the quite room was suddenly disturbed by a knock.

“Ms. Anika, boss said you will have lunch together, he is on his way.” Earl said as he open the door.

“Okay, I’ll just finish this last file.” I said then go back to reading.

“I’ll be out for lunch, you have my number you can call me for any emergencies.“ I said as I stand going out.

“Yes Doc.” They said in unison.

The boys followed by my side and back going out of the hospital. I sent a message to Mr. Tan just in case he look for me. Isaac’s car stop in front of the hospital just when we walk out of the door.

“Hi! Dr. Anika” Isaac said teasing me.

“Are you taking me out for lunch or you going inside for check up?” I said still not going inside the car. The door was opened by Buck.

“I will be check and going through surgery only if the great Dr. Anika Scott will be my doctor.” He replied while I put on my seat belt.

“You are unbelievable” I said rolling my eyes. He just laughs and started driving the car.

“I already reserved a table for us.” He said while stirring the wheels.

“Let’s not go far since I have to come back early for the operation later.” I replied

“Wow! Look who’s busy now.” He said looking at me quickly then back to the road. I just rolled my eyes at him.

“Don’t worry it’s just a few blocks away from the hospital Dr.” He said emphasizing the word Doctor.

“Can we also have a quick shopping, all my clothes are not professional outfits.” I don’t know why with this man but every time I speaks he finds his way to tease me.

“All I thought you’re busy” I just rolled my eyes at him again, I don’t want to argue since I need this energy for later. Isaac just laughs, he made his day by just getting into my nerves.
