The Promise Ring

Chapter 21

-- Anika –

It was three in the afternoon when we went back to the Pullman launches after the bungee jumping. Isaac is still silent, maybe he's still on the sentence I told him a while ago.

“I’m going to call a police, I will sue you” I said breaking the silence.

“What?” He said in angrily.

“You keep stealing glances at me, is there something you want to say” I said walking near him.

He just sigh “I’m just tired, can we take a nap” I just nodded in response since I was also tired.

After taking a quick shower, I dry off my hair and went to bed, Isaac was still out of the room.

I heard the door open but I didn’t mind opening my eyes since I was really sleepy.

I felt Isaac lay down beside me, he hugged me through my back and pat a kiss on my head.

“I love you” Isaac muttered into my ears, it gives shivers into my spine.

His words and hands around my waist put me comfortably to sleep.

I woke up with the sound of the alarm in the clock.

“Ughh” I muttered trying to reach for the alarm clock. Who would have turn on the alarm when you are in a vacation, I said to myself in irritation.

I noticed Isaac was no longer on the bed, I abruptly get up in the bed and look for him outside.

“Isaac” I shouted by there is no response. I walk around to search for him but he was not really on the launches. I run into the room and reach for my phone when I notice a piece of paper under it and a white box beside it.

Be ready at 8 o’clock love,

I suddenly felt at ease knowing nothing wrong is happening, I look at my phone to check the time and it was almost 6 in the evening. I carried the bag and put it on the bed for me to open it, I untie first the ribbon before opening it, inside the box is a sequins black spaghetti knee dress and a black lace up strappy heels with set of jewelry and a metal bow clutches bag. I just smile with the thought of this but at the same time nervous.

“What are you up to Isaac” I muttered nervously.

I didn’t waste time anymore, I took a nice bath and wear the dress Isaac prepared for me, it was nice and elegant, and it hugs my body perfectly.

I decided to wear some makeup since I still have time, luckily Amelia pack some of my makes up. I just wear a natural makeup since it was night, I just made sure I put highlighter. I let my hair flow easily on my waist and clip the left side of my hair with a pearl snap barrette hairpin. I put on my heels and open the clutch bag to my surprise there is dollars inside.

I check myself on the mirror and got satisfied with what I am seeing, as I step out of my room I saw a yacht approaching, a man came near and bows down on me.

“Good evening ma’am, I am here in behalf of Mr. Carson, I was instructed to pick up you and escort you to him safe” The men said and two men in black suit also came and bow down before they look around and check the area.

‘Shall we ma’am” He added, they followed behind me as I walk into the yacht. I was expecting them to help me climb the yacht when I noticed they’re just looking at me.

“Please be careful ma’am, we are not allowed to touch you” The man explained so I just grasp the railings for me not to trip.

Sometimes Isaac’s possessiveness was not helpful, I said to myself, as soon as I enter the yacht they escorted me to sit on a couch and gave me a glass of champagne while waiting to be at the area.  

“So where is Isaac?” I ask scrolling on my phone.

“Please wait until we arrived at the venue ma’am, you’ll meet him there” I just rolled my eyes, why these guys are so obedient.

The champagne on my body eases the nervousness I feel, what are you up too Isaac, I said nervously on my mind. I didn’t know how long I’ve been waiting there when one of the man came near.

“Excuse me ma’am, we have arrived the venue, please walk carefully when walking down the yacht” He said then gestures the way for god sake I don’t know where it will lead me.

I got shivers because of the wind that touches my skin, as we enter a place that looks like mall the escorts stop in front of a two door room.

“We will leave you here ma’am, inside this room is Mr. Carson waiting for you” He said and then bowed down before he left me.

I took me a lot of courage before I push the door. When I enter the room I felt like I’m in titanic because of the underwater view. The sea full of colorful fishes, rainbow-y corals, sharks and shipwrecks, the water serves as the light in this dark room, at the center is a table for two, not far behind is an organ, but I can’t see Isaac. I look around but suddenly shiver when someone whispers behind me.

“Looking for me?” Isaac said that voice gives tension to my body.

I turned around to look at him, he was wearing a three coated black suit,.

“For my lady” He added while handling me a bouquet of flowers.

I received the flower shaky, but not to give him a hint that I’m nervous I control my feelings and smile at him.

As we walk into the center Isaac holds my hand, his warm hand calms my stiff body. All I thought we are going to sit already on the chair at the table but we stop in front of the piano. He carried one of the chairs and places it beside the piano, while he seated on the pianist chair. I'm still clueless of this surprised date but next thing I know, Isaac is playing the piano while singing. 

"Wise men say, only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you" Isaac started pressing the keyboards without looking at it and sing along, my hearts started to jump a little faster hearing him sung, he looked at me straight in the eyes, I felt like being captured in his eyes. 

"Shall I stay, would it be a sin? If I can't help falling in love with you, Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes some things are meant to be. Take my hands, take my whole life too for I can't help falling in love with you" I can't contain my feelings that I want to kiss him right away but instead tears started falling into my eyes. 

He kneels down in front of me and asked worriedly. 

"Why love? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" He asked consecutively while I still cry childishly. 

Instead of crying I hugged him tight and sobs on his shoulder, he stands and carried me through the center. Instead of asking again, he stays silent and waits until I end sobbing, we we're like dancing on the center. 

"I'm sorry" I word finally came out of my mouth. 

"Why" He asked calmly. 

"I ruined your song" I said regretfully

"No, you made me sung and play that song" He said convincing me, he pulls away and cupped my face. 

"You are too beautiful for tears to fell down those eyes, let's enjoy the night" He said then pulls the chair gently for me to sit comfortably, while he carried the other chair for him. 

He pressed a button and a man came with a tray on his hand, followed by a man pulling trolley food car, one man place two plate in the table and champagne. 

When I’m done pulling myself together, I'm back to being talkative, we took time eating and chatting. 

"How did you found this place?" I asked him while filling my mouth with the Maldives dish

"Connection" He said confidently. 

"Ohh! I forgot that feeling already" I said in a low voice. 

"Really? Do you know Mr.Tan?" He asked, maybe he noticed sadness on my tone. 

"Hmm.. sounds familiar, but I think I know him, why?" I answered then I sip on the champagne. 

"They're family is serves as the doctor's of our family, his the one who treat you when you are drugged by the bastard" He said in gritted teeth the word bastard. 

"Yeah! I remember him, we met before in a convention at the Harvard University, his such a nice old man" I said when my memory of his face flash back. 

"You don't say old to a man, that feels sucks" He said chuckling

I just laugh in response, and I agree to that thought. 

We sit there and chat for a while, when I ask him to take us a picture, we took a lot of selfie when he pull me to the center and press the button again. A music turns on, Isaac get my hands and put it on his shoulder while he place his hands on my waits. We we're so close that I can feel his breath on my skin. 

"Every time I look at you, I see light, my future, when I look into your eyes I see my life” Isaac said while taking the gaps between my finger with his own.

“Since the day, I found you I promised myself that you will be my wife, bear my children, but before that I will take things in order for just us two. I will not let something bad happened to you.” He stop and take out something from his suit, he brought out a luxury high gloss wooden small box.

“I know I took you out in your dream life, you being a doctor, living with your patients, the foundations you  build, but all of this was because I wanted to have a meaning full life with you.” He stopped again and exhaled.

“I know worse things are yet to come for us, many will try to take you away from me, but I will do anything in my power to protect you, you are my life, that only important person in this world for me, please allow me to protect you, to spoil you, to cherish you. Please accept this ring as sign of my faithfulness to you, that you will be the only woman in my life.” Isaac opened the box and put a sterling silver jade ring on my finger.

“Please accept this ring as a promise ring that you will be the only woman in my life, a promise ring that will unfold our story, reveals our future, this ring is a sign that I am yours and you are only mine.” He kissed me passionately which I returned back favorably.

This kiss is my first kiss, so deep and meaningful, what he said a while ago proves the way he kissed me now, I felt special, I felt owned. We took all the time we had before we stop to struggle for air.

We both smiled and Isaac hugs me.

“I love you My Anika” Isaac whispered on my ears.
