The preparation

Chapter 43

It's been a week since Isaac had finally woke up, the wounds is also getting better, his fast recovery brings strength to everyone, their business was also back to normal, but still everything is done in his office. Meeting are still virtual and all documents needed was sent here, what's good thing is he allowed me attending his meeting and taking parts on the discussions and planning, I felt another wall has finally broken down between us, he finally let me in into his mafia world, not yet fully involved but I know we will get there someday. After all, no rush since he told me no secrets between us anymore. 

After our talk at the balcony about my family, we haven't talk about it yet for the whole week. He didn't open it up again and I never asked after that, might be because I wasn't accepting it all or I'm just afraid with the thought that they might be able to hurt Isaac again. Everyone here in the mansion was so vigilant, everyone spend their free time at the training room, even I did the same. I might not help Isaac but at least I can fight for myself and less of a burden to him and everyone, that is the last thing I want to be in this family. 

After lunch, Isaac attend to his papers that needs to be sign while I went directly here at the garden waiting for Jake. Blake has mentioned to me the other day during training that Isaac's birthday is fast approaching so I decided to plan a birthday party for him, surprise birthday party actually because I'm having connivance with his men, and I can't wait to make something special for him also. 

"Hey! I'm sorry, I'm late." Jake suddenly said as he sit beside me. 

"What took you so long?" I asked because his 5 minutes late for the meeting.

"Isaac asked something from me before he lock himself at this throne." We chuckle with what he said. 

"So, are we fine if we go to Finland? are we safe to go there?" I asked him last night if we are safe to go out of town because I'm planning to see the aurora borealis with Isaac. 

"I'll prepare everything, don't worry about the place because we also have connections going there so I think we are safe." Jake said assuring me. 

"Really? so can we go the day after tomorrow?" I asked so that I can prepare all the things we need before we leave.

"Yes, I'll take care about the hotel and the plane, you'll be in-charge with the surprise." He said winking at me. 

"Wow! Thankyou! One last thing. Can I borrow Blake and Buck, I'll just ask them to pick me up something and buy ingredients for the cake." I said with my puppy eyes for him to say yes. 

"Ingredients for the cake? Are you going to bake?" He said raising a brow. 

"Yes, I want to personally bake Isaac's cake for his birthday." I said cheerfully. 

"If you say so, just make sure we are allowed to eats those." He said that makes laugh again. 

"I'll leave you then, before Isaac notice we are planning something behind his back" Jake said then left me on the garden. 

I stayed there for for less than an hour adding to cart of the gifts I wanted to give to Isaac for his birthday, it was all personalize items. After a while I call Blake and Buck giving them the address on where to pick it up and list of ingredients I needed. 

"Please make sure to buy the exact ingredients I put in there, and call me if there are questions." I said instructing them before they go. 

I was about to go upstairs when Stephen suddenly call. 

"Anika?" Stephen said on the other line, I almost forget to update him in regards with condition of Isaac. 

"Yes?" I said, I suddenly forget also I was employed there and need to inform them on when I will be back. 

"How's Isaac?" He said, I know he just called for it. 

"Fortunately, he was recovering fast, I'm sorry I forget to call you to update, I was so preoccupied because a lot of things is happening right now." I said truthfully. 

"Do you need anything?" He asked that makes me flutter, after all we built friendship for just a short period of time. 

"Don't worry, I'm fine, I will let you know once I needed help." I said, I heard him sigh on the other line. 

"So when are you going back to work? You're patients are waiting for you and I can't bear my partner doctor during operation's, please come back now and make my life easier." He said pleading that makes me smile, this person never grows up. 

"Shut up and do your job." We both chuckle again. 

"But kidding aside, I honestly don't know when I'll be back. Please inform Mr. Tan that I will excuse myself and file an indefinite leave. Please take care of my patient's for the mean time." I said, I thought Stephen hung up the phone already because he was not responding anymore, but when I check it, he was still on the line. 

"Stephen are you there?" I asked. 

"Oh Yes! I heard you, I have to go I have a patient to attend to." He said then hung up the phone immediately. He might be really busy right now.

I inhaled before I went upstairs, I get my painting materials and carry them to my old room. I will personally paint a picture of us for my best gift to Isaac, and I need to hurry because I only have less than a day to finish it because tomorrow night I have to make the cake, doing all of this without Isaac noticing my absence. Sometimes, I think I was lucky enough he locked himself at the office for almost a whole day. This makes me grab the opportunity to do all the things, I even personalized all the decorations for the theme we will be using on his birthday.  I contacted someone from Finland to help me arrange everything while I lure Isaac. I just hope everything went well according to my plans, having the boys by my side makes me confident enough this will be a big success.

The next day, I woke up 4 am in the morning to make Isaac's cake. Since black and gold will be his theme color, I will be making monochromatic black cake. Actually, I haven't done this before so I watched almost a hundred YouTube tutorial's on how to perfectly make like that, with everything I prepared for this one is the least confident I am. I just hope Isaac appreciate it.

Finally the day has come. Isaac actually don't like the idea of going out of the country celebrating his birthday but because of my charm after an hour of persuading him, he finally said yes. We just arrived at the airport where Jake prepared the everything. 

"Are you ready?" I asked him, he shook his head but smiles at me while we get off the car. 

"Just make sure no surprises love, I hate surprises, I think you should know that." He said holding my hands while we walk going into the ladder. 

"I will make sure you'll never forget this trip" I said assuring him. 

"Let's see if you can make this trip memorable." He said that challenges me. I better did, or else I don't know what else to do in this life aside from operation humans brains. 

I made sure or my surprise was safely placed at the plane, I assigned Blake and Buck and will check it later if Isaac sleeps. I even texted my contact person that we are on our way there. 

I get nervous about everything and feel anxious, actually I'm confident enough with all the things I prepared even with the outcome of the cake that's why I was thinking where should I be nervous about? I know Isaac will loved everything I prepared for him. 

The plane finally takes off. I went to see Blake and Buck to check if everything was placed here properly. 

"Are you sure you didn't left anything?" I said asking them for the nth time. 

"Yes, we followed all your instructions so you can relax now, because everything falls according to your plan." Blake said that makes me chuckle. 

"Fine, I better go now before Isaac notice my absence." I said then left them there. 

Blake and Buck gets in the plane with us while the rest stay at the mansion to take care some business. Even though everything was smoothly doing great with Isaac's business, he didn't bother to take things easy to give chance for his enemies to take him down. 

"I want to sleep." Isaac said as I returned to our seat. 

"Sure, it's been a long hours of travel ahead of us." I said. 

I nap in Isaac's arms peacefully. Soon sleeps envelopes us both.
