CHAPTER 34

— Isaac —

I wanted to scold Anika with the report given by Buck that Stephen is talking to her, since I made some rules and reminded her before I leave her this morning I guess I have all the right to get mad at her. I rushed to our room because Amelia told me she went directly there. When I open the door Anika was in deep slumber on the bed. I walked near her and she looks tired, I remove the hair that escaped from her face and gently caress her soft skin. My anger suddenly drifts away just by looking at her angelic face. This is the only woman who can abruptly change my mood, My precious.

I wake her up for dinner and I noticed her eyes looks sad and she looks disturbed, specially when she suddenly hugs me like asking for help and strength. I know something is wrong and I don’t want to ask her so I’ll just wait for her to willingly open it up to me.

During dinner, I know she force herself to look happy, I know Anika’s genuine smile comes from ear to ear so I know she’s really not happy. She suddenly stops eating and stares at me, all I thought she will just glance at me but she was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t even knew I already noticed her staring at me for a long time. I look at Jake because he was making a sign that Anika is somehow absent minded.

“Are you going to eat that salad or you preferred to eat me?” I said retrieving her back to her senses.

“What?” She just said which means she really was physically here but mentally absent, her thoughts has take her away.

“I want to my know biological parents.” She finally said.

So she is into those thoughts, does she knows I’m doing a back ground check about her family? Does she knows and not telling me? Does she even knows that I’m doing this for her? I almost forget, the woman of my life is the a descendant of Albert Einstein. I wipe my mouth first before talking.

“Sure. I’ll help you love.” I said that gives a smile of hope in her face.

On my peripheral, I saw Jake exchanging looks with the other guys. I know they are also puzzled. Now I have to make some changes on the plans and fast track things.

“Thank you Isaac! Thank you” He said gratefully and stands to hug me.

Everyone looks at me confused.

We finish the dinner quietly. No one dares to ask or look at me because I immediately shot them with a glare. Anika was smiling all through out and finishes his food. As soon as she was finish, he waited for me to finish also.

“Let’s go get some fresh air?” She asked which I gladly accepts. Of course, I can’t say no to my woman. We hold hands as we walks to the garden.

“Thank you!” She said while leaning on my shoulder looking at the moon reflecting on the sea.

“For what?” I asked while rubbing her shoulders to keep her warm.

“For helping me find my biological parents. I know that’s another door of my life I need to open but I’m glad I will open it with you.” She said which makes me smile, that touches my heart.

“Just always remember I love you and I will do everything to protect you.” I said, and if I need to do things behind her back to protect her. I will.

We stayed there for a little longer, until we decided to go inside to sleep because Anika is really tired.

She used the bathroom inside our room to take shower while I used the bathroom on the other room. When I came back she was already in bed, laying beautifully.

“What took you so long? I’m sleepy.” She said then face to hug me the moment I lay beside her.

Her smell is intoxicating that it gives calmness to my nerves, it’s addicting.

“Missed me that fast?” I said teasing her. She didn’t respond anymore, then I guess this woman is really sleepy.

I snake my arms into her waist while caressing her hair that becomes a hobby for her to be in deep sleep. I sniff her scent that I missed the whole day. I need to talk to Jake for changes of plans but Anika’s scent makes me also put into slumber with her.

I woke up the next morning with enough strength for having a good night sleep. I look at Anika who was still on the same position before I sleep. I get up on bed and called Jake before going into the bathroom. I knew this man waited for me last night.

“You ditch me last night brother.” Jake said on the other line, his voice is still groggy. 

“Can’t leave Anika.” I just reasoned out.

“I’ll meet you at the Office.” I added before I hang up the phone.

I took a quick bath and change into my  usual look before I headed to my office. I made sure Anika is still sleeping peacefully before I left her.

“Great night?” Jake said teasing me when I enter the office.

“Shut up! We just slept last night.” I said which makes him smirk.

“Besides Anika is not like other girls out there who will throw themselves at me.” I said which makes him nod.

“Let’s get to business.” I said then Jake sits on the chair in-front of me.

“Please explain to me why you suddenly agree on Anika’s request?” I know Jake will asked this.

“That’s the only way we can win her trust, I don’t want Anika having doubts or even second thoughts on me.” I explained which makes him nod in agreeing.

“So what’s your plan? Are we going to tell her?” He asked which I just respond with a sigh.

“Here’s the plan” I said that makes him focus.

After almost an hour we are finally done.

“I want you to prepare a plane going to America the day after tomorrow.” I said on my secretary who was on the other line.

“Okay boss.” She said then I hung up the phone.

“Tell Mr. Tan to come up with something that can bring Anika back to America for a one or a couple of days. I can leave her here while I talk to his dads. Tell him don’t worry about the accommodation and plane we will provide it.”

“Okay. I will leave you here because the boys are waiting for me at the Library.” Jake said then stood walking outside the office.

“Tell the boys that we will have breakfast together with Anika.” I said and he nodded in response before he closed the door.

I check on my watch and a couple of minutes before 7 so I know Anika is already preparing.

I also left the office and headed to my room to check on Anika. When I open the door Anika was already out of the bed. She suddenly walks outside the walk in closet wearing a blue pants and a sleeveless blouse. She looks beautiful and smart.

“C’mon! I know I am beautiful but the way you looks at me feels like I’m a goddess.” She said while walking towards me.

“You really are my woman.” I hugged her and kissed her cheeks.

We headed downstairs to have breakfast where the boys are waiting already for us.

“Good morning” Anika greeted everyone with a wide smile plaster on her face.

“Good mood.” Blake commented which I returned with a glare to stop his nonsense thoughts because he might slip away.

“Break fast is ready” Albert announces while I pull the chair for Anika. 

We sit there silently, Anika is enjoying her waffle while the boys are busy exchanging looks like they don’t know how to act accordingly in-front of Anika.

”Excuse me boss, someone sent you a parcel.” One of my bodyguards said who was holding a piece of plastic document.

I am not expecting any parcel to received for this month so I think this is un usual.

“Have you check it.” I asked the bodyguard who was still standing beside me.

“Not yet boss” He replied bowing, looking into his feet.

“Then what are you waiting for?” I said that makes him rush to tear the plastic and open the small envelope. At first it looks like an ordinary envelop from a layman person, but when the bodyguard stands close beside me and open the guard. I was in shock reading what is in it.                                                      

                                “Give me the heir” 

I want to flip the table and ruin everything I can hold due to anger rise on my nerve, but knowing Anika is peacefully eating beside me I pull myself together and hold my anger. I hold Anika’s hand to calm my nerves because only her can calm my raising anger. She was surprised but instead she give me a sweet smile, I kissed her hand which cools me down.

“What is that envelop all about?” She suddenly asked which raise my heart beat.

“It was an invitation from a business investor.” I alibi.

“Jake please check the invitation when you’re done eating and search to whom from our business partners it belongs” I said looking at Jake. I knew Jake, he knows what I’m talking about. 

“Are you done?” I asked Anika holding her hands.

“Yes, let me just get my bag and coat in the room before we go.” She said then walks her way upstairs which gives me sign to instruct everyone. I made sure Albert was on the look out.

“I want you to search the parameters around this house, up to 15kilometers away from here. I want everyone on the look out because someone knew Anika is an heiress. We can’t let them get her. “ I said minimizing my voice before Anika here us.

“Blake buck and Earl make sure you don’t leave your eyes off Anika. If something bad happens to her, you three will be the first head to roll on the floor.” I saw them gulp with my threat.

“Jake, I want you to f*****g find who sent that f*****g note. They better hide before I f*****g found them.” I hissed with my fist closed

“Excuse me boss, she’s about to return.” Albert said, I inhaled immediately to relaxed my nerves.

“Let’s go?” Anika asked when she reach the dining table.

“Sure” I stand and button my coat.

The rest stands and follow us as we walk into the garage.

“Are they all coming with us?” Anika asked when she noticed them.

“No love, they have work for today” I said as I open the passengers door for her and assist her going inside.

I drive followed by 7 more black cars following us, as soon as we reached the gate the cars following me was just 4 black cars. I knew then Jake went to investigate.

“Take care!” I kissed Anika’s head when we reached the hospital.

She suddenly hugs me and rest his face on my chest, even though she wears heels I’m still far taller then her.

“I was cared because of you but no one takes care of you. You are the last person I want to see on the hospital bed so always look after yourself, I don’t know what state I can be if you we’re injured or in pain” I felt the pain in her tone and my heart suddenly pinch with that.

“No one can touch me, I live my whole life guarding myself, I used to this. Don’t worry I’ll be fine.” I said to calm herself.

“I love you.” I kissed her gently on her lips.

I watched her go inside the hospital first before I go,  followed by now 3 black cars.

I called Jake while driving to ask the status of his talked with Mr. Tan

“What did Mr. Tan said?” I asked over the phone

“There will be a convention at America tomorrow night, she can send Anika to attend in behalf of the hospital.” Jake replied

“Okay! Good, get ready we will travel to America tomorrow” I hung up the phone after that.

I dialed my secretary’s number to reschedule the plane.  

“Get the plane ready, we will flight tomorrow.” I hang up the call without hearing her response.

I need to fast track my plans, my guts tells me something is wrong, it seems someone is betraying me. My plans are not falling into the right place.

Whoever is betraying me, they better get ready because who ever is that they’re days are now can be count by their fingers.
